Tom Cruise v. Paramount - divorce is final

Paramount has made a lot of money with Tom Cruise.
Can't deny he has been a huge star.
He still is.

But, the studio wanted out of the exclusive, and in 2006
standards, out of date, deal it had with Tom.

But, why did Redstone decide to bash Cruise so publicly?
What do they know that we don't?
What is coming up the road for Tom in the bad PR
wars he's been in?

Cruise will be fine, he's going to do more films, make
more money, and that's just a fact. But, he is also
going to have to realize Mission Impossible 4 or 5 or 10
isn't the ticket. Near to 50, not 30 anymore Tom. He's
just not THE star he once was.

All of his weird antics, Scientology preaching, and
teen bride stealing behavior has made people look
at him as a loon, weird, odd, not quite right guy.
The couch jumping was just stupid.

Tom and Paramount are no more. In a very public way.

Nicole must just be smirking about now.

This is old news to Enquirer readers!! They broke this story two weeks ago. If you read the "trilogy" of the Enquirer, the Star, and the Globe every week like me, you know all you need to about showbiz.

It just hit the regular news yesterday because Paramont released
a statement, and Sumner Redstone chimed in too. Then, Tom's
business partner came out slugging today w/her statements against
Paramount.

Sorry, I didn't see The Enquirer............I'll get my back issues
lined up.

I'm sure Tom's weird behavior got involved w/this.
But, it's just about money. He could kill someone, but,
if MI - III had made gazillions, he would be the #1 guy
no matter what.

He's just older now, he's not the #1 draw anymore. He'll
be fine.

The guy should back away from the big, action flicks, and do
some real acting again - something smaller.

I agreed with Helen...from my friends in movie industry..so many versions about this deal...They think Cruise's star power is declining.....also the rumour said that Tom said something personal to paramount which changed all deals..which Paramount actually wanted to deal with CW production with cut budget, profits on DVD, etc...same thing happened to Jim carrey's movie ( Ripley's believe it or not) also collapsed as it has gotten too expensive to make...I guess movie industry is like airline industry...cut costing for bottom line.

Helen..can you tell more what you heard??

In So. Cal., the news (and they are reporting this right up there
w/Iraq and Jon Benet news), is that Tom (1) has a falling star due
to his decent box office - but, not great box office, and (2) his
antics have turned fans off, and (3) the Paramount deal was an
old style deal most stars don't get nowadays.

I think it is more the latter.

Paramount just wanted out of the big deal it had w/him. It's
2006, and with cable, internet, immediate DVD sales, etc.,
the movie business changed. Lots of individual stars have
their own companies, and things are made per picture, deals
change. They wanted more freedom, and wanted to pay him
less upfront.

That, and he's just one weird Scientology guy.

The article just said his decreasing popularity and the relative flop of his last couple of flicks have demoted him from top star stuff, that Paramount wasn't totally ditching him, but offereing him less than $5 million a picture on a new contract, if he wanted it, and not the many times that that he gets per movie now. To be honest, it wasn't all that shocking and I didn't read it that carefully.

With all people working for Dworfy Control Freak no one had advised him to shut up about scientology in public

It's downhill now ... remember Harrison Ford? Few years back he was a lock to break 100 million $ mark overseas with his movie - not anymore!
