Beyonce: 'I'll never lose myself like Lauryn'

http://news.superiorpics.com/2006/08...E_LAURYN_.html

BEYONCE: 'I'LL NEVER LOSE MYSELF LIKE LAURYN'

BEYONCE KNOWLES is determined to cope with her spiralling fame, insisting she will never ''lose herself'' like FUGEES star LAURYN HILL.

The CRAZY IN LOVE star was shocked when Hill suddenly shaved her head and turned her back on the limelight, visiting tough Brooklyn schools with her guitar.

And although she still respects the READY OR NOT singer's work, Knowles believes she is far more grounded than Hill.

She says, "Her story is the most tragic. I mean, her record was genius. But drama and demands and the pressure and all of the people giving you so much access to so many things can be too much.

"So couple that with everyone telling you you're so this and so that and so perfect and of course you can lose yourself.

"I don't know what's going to happen to me but I know I'm more than a singer and I have so many other things in my life to keep me focused. I hope and pray that I stay as comfortable in my own skin as I am right now."

But I, being poor, have only my dreams
I have spread my dreams under your feet
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams

This is why I can't stand the bitch. Saying stupid shit like this annoys the hell out of me. Mark Knowles might be control of many things in Beyonce's career but he just let's her say and do some stupid things.
Lauryn Hill found herself. She didn't fall under the pressure of media.
Her son is still her priority and has always been that way. She acknowledges the issues of western society instead of actually participating in them like Beyonce does.

Lauryn has never compromised herself or her songwriting ability to be famous. That's something Beyonce can be proud of doing.
What Beyonce should have said was...
If I was half the women Lauryn Hill was, I could die a happy person.

"Everybody always said I didn't get that job because my wife is white. If you're not strong enough to look through that then you have the issue."

These are the first words that came to mind as well.
That skanky, no-talent, high-yellow biee-yatch is downing Lauryn?!
Lauryn made a career decision to put 100% into raising her son WITHOUT A DAD!! %!*@ Beyonce simply a B-ranked Tina Turner wannabe, and I'm being generous here.

if you read the article closely, she never actually implicates she won't lose herself like lauryn...what the article states and the caption states is VERY different and you must be cognizant of that before judging queen bee.

that being said, i don't like her that much and will never make a "miseducation of lauryn hill" --- funny this came up, because that's one of the few records i own, as in, bought with my own money. and i don't regret it at all.

Perhaps you wouldn't sound so ignorant if you read the entire interview located here:

http://arts.guardian.co.uk/filmandmu...src=rss&feed=6

Here is the relevant excerpt:
At that level of fame, however, the dangers are enormous. We speak a little about the incumbent problems that American stars seem to fall prey to as they straddle her level of success. We talk about Mariah Carey's breakdown, Mary J Blige's beaten drug habit and Whitney Houston's ongoing one. She adds Michael Jackson into the pot. "Do I worry about that?" she says, softly "No." There is a pause. "I mean, I just cannot worry about that."

I remind her that the last female soul singer to threaten the kind of global pre-eminence Beyoncé is aspiring to, Lauryn Hill, ended up shaving her head and touring Brooklyn high schools to sing folk songs with an acoustic guitar, sabotaging a brilliant nascent career.

"Her story is the most tragic," she agrees. "I mean, her record was genius. But the drama and the demands and the pressure and all of the people giving you so much access to so many things can be too much. So couple that with everyone telling you you're so this and so that and so perfect and of course you can lose yourself.

"The thing that I always say is that I'm lucky to have my family around me. But it's true. I'm really not worried about that. I don't know what's going to happen. I'm 24 years old. I would be dumb to say what I'm never going to do. I'm too young and sure I'll change a hundred times over my life."

You're not comfortable in your skin Beyonce. You're comfortable in the skin society WANTS you to be in which is a shallow shell of a women.

This is what a real women who is comfortable would say:

Sometimes I shave my legs and sometimes I don't
Sometimes I comb my hair and sometimes I won't
Depend on how the wind blows I might even paint my toes
It really just depends on whatever feels good in my soul

I'm not the average girl from your video
and I ain't built like a supermodel
But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I'm not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I'm wearing I will always be the india arie

lauryn is a way better artist than beyonce will ever be. The only reason lauryn took all this time off was to have a faimly. Lauryn is one of the greatest artists of this generation and her work will live on for along time!

Sweetie. I'm not the one who's ignorant. It's the person who reminded Beyonce about Lauryn Hill. It's Beyonce who submitted to the pressure of media thus sounding like a fool.

Lauryn still went platinum on her second album. If she wanted to tour Brooklyn high schools and sing folks songs with an acoustic guitar then she can do that. That's what growth is all about.
Maybe she was a little before her time but to say she sabotaged her career is outlandish.

Is this Beyonce's quote?:
Quote:

If so, Beyonce is talking out her azz. Lauryn stopped performing to raise her family. If Beyonce took the time to read a few articles [The last and most in-depth in Rolling Stones...I believe ] she wouldn't have mistaken the reason for "pressure of the industry" being the cause. I used to think Beyonce was a smart businesswoman like Lauryn Hill. But now I see her as no more than a narcissistic moron.

Incidentally, I own The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill" CD. And it's still SLAMMIN'
