Armistead Maupin: Does Anyone Know Any News?

Another thread reminded me of one of my fave books ever: Maybe The Moon by Armistead. The Tales Of The City are also books I re-read everytime I go on a beach holiday, but I class them as a collection rather than one novel. I didn't enjoy the Night Listener anywhere near as much: too grim a premise for me. But I still couldn't put it down.

But I read that he may be writing another Tales book, updated to present day with some of the characters.

Does anyone know any firm news? And if not, is anyone else an Armistead fan? Cadence and Mouse are just 2 of my favourite characters ever!

Yes I read all the Tales of the City but it was years ago.

Funny aside: My mom was a librarian and she could see whatever books I checked out in the computer system. And so she must have known I was checking all those books out. And I also checked out a book by a lesbian; famous book can't remember the title or author at the time and I'm typing quickly because I have to log off.

Anyway, a while ago when she was concerned aobut my lifestyle or whatever, she confronted me for not being married, asking if I am gay. (I'm not.) Actually it was not funny, I was very mad, but that's what happened because of Armisted Maupin .

(And in case someone is gonna think I was mad about being perceived as gay, that was not the reason; it was my mom's attitude toward me at the time... not being the way she wanted me to be.)

Try it at www.talesofthecity.com. Within you will find a link for the "Sounding Board" which is a forum with the most current informations. It is not very busy but it is the best you can have. There is a section which is called "Questions for Armistead" where Armistead is talking about a new book about Michael Tolliver. So it won't be a new "Tales"-book exactly but many characters from Tales are getting into it. The working title seems to be "Babycakes". Armistead was also voted as the most popular gay novelist in the magazine GayTimes in the UK. There is an interview where he confirmed that he is working on this book. It's still looking like that we have to wait a little more time, Armistead doesn't seem to be in a hurry. Hope that helps.
