It starts slow, then gets gory then becomes a thriller. Better than the House of Wax.

But my fave thriller/scarer from Hollywood recently was The Skeleton Key which was atmospheric and had great acting. HHE is pretty predicatble slasher stuff, but great for a night alone with a pizza!

The remake definitely makes the original look tame. But I enjoyed it.

It tells you more of how the cannibals survived and although you learn that they hold a grudge against the world, you still don't know they have a taste for murder and human flesh.

And be prepared for more blood and gore.

This move and the Texas Chainsaw remake are definitely well made films for that kind of genre.

I saw one from the 70s and it was a little dull.
