not to mention that playing pro soccer in the US is not lucrative like playing basketball, football, baseball, or hockey. Kids here play it then get to a certain age and quit it in order to persue one of those other sports

how so struggling? a few decades ago the average American didn't know what the World Cup was ... now they're wondering why they're so bad at it.

sounds like progress to me.

It amazes me that how as a recreational team sport, Soccer in the States is as big as it comes but you just don't see the kids going for that sport as a career.

Guess we still have about 10-15 years to go before we put ourselves on the map.

(although of course the women are huge in the game.)

Personally, I think it's great the U.S. is non-conformist in this respect. At least it has its own version of "football" it can call its own.
