Why has Germany's national team...

... no nickname? Most of the big national teams have a nickname like L'équipe tricolor (France), Three Lions (England), Oranje (Netherlands)...

I don't have a nickname for them so my question to you guys is:
Do you have a nickname for them?

I think we call them "Die Mannschaft" (pronounce "Die" as "Dee"...) Which basically means "the team" in English.

German Kommentators call all Teams "Mannschaft". Die Mannschaft aus Polen, die Mannschaft aus Costa Rica, die Mannschaft der Elfenbeinküste and so on.

I don't think the England team is really called 'Three Lions' - not in England anyway.

The nickname of the French team is "Les Bleus". Just a small correction.

I'm surprised that every country calls the teams with other nicknames. I always thought the nicknames are in every country the same.

In Germany we use these nicknames:
France: L'équipe tricolor
Brazil: Seleção
Italy: Squadra Azzurra
England: Three Lions
Argentina: Gauchos
Netherlands: Oranje
