The Sunset Boulevard Appreciation Thread

This is the thread to discuss all things regarding Billy Wilder's classic film. Anything goes, from dishing your favorite lines to whatever else you care to share. I never get tired of watching this film.

"You there. Why are you so late? Why have you kept me waiting so long?"

"There aarre no other guests."

I love this film, I can watch it every day and it never gets old. I like it, I found out later, that Wilder intended it to be funny in parts, it is not the result of age.

I always wanted (still do) to give a guy a solid gold cigarette case with the inscription, "Mad About The Boy, Norma."

"Don't be rediculous. You don't need a car. We have a car. Not one of those new-fangled things made of chromium and spit. It's an Isotta Fraschini. Have you ever heard of Isotta Fraschini? All hand made. Cost me $25,000.00."

That SOOO dates the movie, along with Betty Shaeffer's nose job, what did it cost her $300 or something?

A long time ago, when some rag said Sharapova was the richest in tennis, I spoofed Norma's "I'm rich" speech here on the board, only it was Chris Evert talking, and it was a house in Bimini and not Malibu. I'll have to find it, I thought it was pretty good!

William Holden was good enough to eat in that, the tux, the bathing suit, Norma certainly knew how to pick them!

I'd really like to know who has that Isotta Fraschini, and if it's been taken care of and is still showing at car shows. I remember reading that they did in fact borrow it from some older Hollywood star, but can recall who... "MAX!"

We had faces then. There just aren't any faces like that any more. Maybe one- Garbo.
