Question about London airports

Hello all,

I have a quick question for anybody who is willing/able to help. I will be travelling through Europe this summer, coming home through London. I am leaving from Gatwick, but probably coming into London through Stanstead or Luton. My question is, which of these airports would be better/cheaper in terms of getting into the city should I decide to stay a night, or for getting to Gatwick. Thanks in advance,

NAT

Gatwick and Stansted are both easily connected to central London. Both Gatwick Express & Stansted Express are affordable and comfortable. Trains leave stations every 30 minutes and the journey takes approximatively 45 min.

Gatwick to Victoria Station (South)
Stansted to Liverpool Street Station (North East)

Not sure it answers your question though?

I've never been to Luton but i know it's quite similar, you have a Luton Express train too and Thameslink (British railways) operate services from central London to the airport as well. I believe it's from Kings Cross. Journeys are 35min app.

Somehow when i travel - i always avoid Luton. I don't know it's just less convenient compared to the other airports.

affordable = ridiculously expensive for a shuttle train, right?

Yes they're a bloody rip off! But you don't have that much choice, unless you check the bus services into town.

But Heathrew is the easiest to get into the city....although they are all easily connected, once you get out you get the under ground plan and it is very simple anyone can read....just know where you wanna end up and you should be fine......London is generally expensive but I usually buy a weekly plan up to zone three....although I have so many friends that drive me around while I'm there....

Bus is slow and a bit more complicated for a newbie but it has the advantage of sight seeing.....

Luton has a station called Luton Airport Parkway which is on the Thameslink or First Capital Connect or something like that line. It takes as little as 30 minutes or so into Kings Cross and the line also goes down to Gatwick. Your better off getting ordinary British Rail lines to and from airports as the express lines charge a lot more

Heathrow is shite! I hate that airport with a passion

It's the ugliest building ever. They seem about 100X more likely to lose your luggage somewhere (and I've seen it where there were hundreds of bags just piled up against a random wall, I could have just gone and nicked someone's luggage easily ) It takes ages to get around the airport, particularly if you're in the wrong terminal, if you've got a car then the road is absolute hell getting in and out. Ugh, it's just a horrid airport, I now refuse as best I can to travel from there, always Gatwick for me

Heathrow is a horrible airport because it just so busy but in fact is the cheapest option if you are going into central london as you have the underground (piccadily line) to take you into central London.
Luton you have to take a shuttle bus to the station then the train to Kings cross.
My fav airport is Stanstead, the express train leaves directly from the airport and you are basically just off the plane then straight on the train.

It's easy to get to central london from Luton or Gatwick. Gatwick is my fave, and Heathrow is a bitch. You can get direct trains from Gatwick to Victoria or from Luton to Kings Cross Thameslink (and many others, Farringdon, Blackfriars, London Bridge etc). The price will depend on what time you travel. I've never used Stanstead.

lmao Stansted isn't even that close to London - it costs about 18 pound ONE WAY on the bus! (All my rellies live like 30 mins from Stansted, and my auntie works there).
