You're the coach ...

... and an accusation of gang-rape is leveled at SOME members of your team.

a) You ENTIRE team was present during the alleged event.

b) ALL your players deny any assualt or rape happened.

c) SOME of your players, but not all, get lawyers.

d) The police tell you that, based on the evidence, they conclude the woman in question WAS sexually assaulted

e) The doctors and nurses involved tell you that, based on their examination of the victim, they conclude the woman in question WAS sexually assaulted.

What do you do?

And when the police come to talk to you, you tell them you haven't even asked the players about it?!?!

Be real.

ALL of the partents are going to call YOU, and ask if theit son was involved.

Your players are not going to be real interested in going on the raod and hearing opposing crownds chanting "GANG-rape! GANG-rape!" (And if you think that won't happen, you don't spend much time in college auditoriums.)

Who wants to be identified as someone who let a gang-rape happen and did nothing? Yet, EVERY ONE of your players is tarred with that brush now.

Do you encourage your players to come forward and tell the truth?
Do you tel them to stick together, and don't give evidence against fellow players?

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't let the D.A. drag my players through the mud without some sort of press release to the media myself.

As a coach, I would tell my players to stand up and be a man...and take responsibility for your actions.
Then I'd explain that to hide any wrong-doing is to condone the act, and that as future leaders they should look upon this as a moral responsibility to society.

I'd then walk back to my office, lock the door, and laugh my ass off... knowing full well that these boys would run like hell the moment they hit the exit door.

If they would have listened to coach Kiwi, they'd be in the NCAAs right now.

Instead the program is in shambles and a dark cloud is over the whole region.

3 bench warmers could have changed everything.

My coaching policies would be similar to the now retired John Cheyney.

I'm going to believe my players no manner what especially if I consider it to be a bit of a witch hunt.
It doesn't mean I'm not going to slap the shit out of them for getting themselves in this situation.

If we happen to lose our season because of it then that is fine.
Once my team is found out to be innocent I will demand that the NCAA change it's backhanded policies.

Unless the player or players are proven to be guilty in a court of law instead of a court of public opinion then the NCAA will allow the team to continue their season even if the university president wants the program to be shut down at the time.

If a player is found out to be guilty in a court of law and he played in any of the games, then the NCAA has a right to deny that team the wins it accumilated when that player played.

As in the case of Ohio St. this year, if a team has the distinction of winning a banner for their accomplishments, that banner can be taken down and the wins be taken out of the record books.

"Everybody always said I didn't get that job because my wife is white. If you're not strong enough to look through that then you have the issue."
