Did James Spader gain weight for 'Boston Legal'?

DEAR MARILYN & STACY: Hi! I am a big fan of James Spader since "Sex, Lies and Videotape." I last saw him in "The Pentagon Papers," where he again excelled. I find him an extremely versatile and talented actor, and his choices range the spectrum.

My question is: Has he actually put on weight for "Boston Legal," and will he now remain in the TV domain? He is, of course, great and thoroughly entertaining in 'BL,' but it will be a pity if he doesn't continue making movies. Thanks!

DEAR KERRY: Spader's "Boston Legal" role did not require him to gain weight, but, hey, he's now 46, and like many Americans, doesn't quite cut the dashing figure he did when he was young and, in his case, starred in such films as "Sex Lies and Videotape." Spader has had an eclectic career, and chances are strong that the profile he features now will box him into character roles on the big screen. A shame, because he's one of the top actors around.

Isn't it nice (for a change) that a MAN's weight is being speculated about?

I am a James Spader fan by the way.

It's ok. I can still watch James Spader in "Secretary" and pretend I'm Maggie Gyllenhaal getting spanked over & over & over again.

Can’t say I have watched many episodes of “Boston Legal”, but do James Spader & William Shatner look like father & son to you?
