Don Cheadle, Mos Def and Angela Bassett are among the A-listers Danny Glover has attached to his upcoming feature on Haitian revolutionary Toussaint L'Ouverture.

'I've got a powerful cast,' says Glover, who will direct the labor of love he's been trying to get done for some 20 years. 'We also have Wesley Snipes, Roger Guinvere Smith plus a number of other African and Haitian actors.' L'Ouverture was a former slave who rose to the rank of brigade general in the French Army pushing British and Spanish forces out of Haiti.

The coup was the first and only successful slave rebellion in the Western Hemisphere, establishing Haiti as the first free black republic. Glover says his film 'will take us through the years from the beginning of the Rebellion in 1791 through his imprisonment in Fort-de-Joux in the French Alps in 1802. We're shooting that in South Africa in September.' He notes that L'Ouverture's tale is particularly timely in light of the ongoing political upheavals in Haiti. 'L'Ouverture's victory resonates in the consciousness and historic memory of these people. They rebelled, resisted and revolted before and won so they are never a defeated people.'

Glover, who's currently shooting the big-screen 'Dreamgirls' opposite Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy, also has 'The Adventures of Brer Rabbit' DVD just hitting stores from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The actor says the classic children's tales are so timeless because 'they're parables that impart human values and powerful social and political messages through animals.' Nick Cannon, D.L. Hughley, Wayne Brady and Wanda Sykes are the voices of Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, Brer Wolf and Sister Moon, respectively.

Sounds very interesting and I love me some Roger Guinvere Smith (and the others also) so I will see it.

Sounds interesting.

Björk
Imperious in victory. Never conceiving the possibility of defeat. The greatest of her era. The self-belief, that smile, backhand, muscles, serve, personality, all larger than life. There's no greater sight in women's tennis than watching Serena J. Williams go to work.
The others are Great, but Serena's the Greatest
