I'm bored...can anyone suggest to me some new music?

I'm getting a bit restless with my music collection at the moment, it is (in my opinion) eclectic and quite vast and yet I'm getting a little bored of listening to the same stuff at the moment and for some reason am having a brain blank when it comes to thinking of new music/artists to investigate and listen to Can anyone help me out and suggest any bands/artists I should try out?

I'm quite in the mood for early 90's dance/hip hop classics, or artists with a similar style to Alanis Morissette or any new artists that do a similar style to Goldfrapp, Imogen Heap etc...I just can't think of any at the moment

All suggestions welcome!

Ah-ha! Ok, now let's see what I can brainwash you with this time...

You mention Goldfrapp Then I suggest you check out Tiga, they say he is the male Goldfrapp. I reckon he's good, I'm enjoying his album Sexor.

I know you like the odd bit of electronica <YAY> and you like Tangerine Dream....have you got any Cocteau Twins? Aphex Twin?

Early 90s dance...you should try and find one of those early ministry of sound compliations! Hard house. Ahhh the 90s...

Oh also Sia from Zero 7, her solo stuff. Similar-esque to Imogen Heap.

Oooh great suggestions guys! Thanks and keep 'em coming!

So far loving Joe Firstname, Chantal Kreviazuk, Sia...already had Yeah Yeah Yeahs, some Alison Krauss and Fiona Apple but they are excellent choices nonetheless I'm currently searching out some Cocteau Twins

Oh and azdaja I'll try any kind of music once so suggest anything you want although I do like the sound of breakbeat hardcore and jungle is always good!

alright, but because i have no idea how much you know about that music i will just suggest some random tunes, some famous, some less so.

second phase - mentasm
foul play - finest illusion (legal mix is without helium vox if you don't like them) <- watch out for foul play tunes in general
the house crew - superhero
omni trio - thru the vibe (2 on 1 mix) <- onmi trio stuff is generally cool
cloud 9 - you got me burnin' (ray keith and nookie mix)
hyper on experience - lord of the null lines <- a must for anyone into dance music
dillinja - the angels fell
goldie (aka metalheadz) - terminator
docc scott (aka nasty habits) - dark angel
the prodigy - jericho

and many more, of course...

"How I Do" by Res has got to be one of the most underappreciated albums ever. It is a wonderful album and you should definately give it a try.

Some other musical delights I'm enjoying at the moment:

The Decemberists
Broken Social Scene
Iron & Wine
Anything by 2 Many DJs
ANYTHING BY BOARDS OF CANADA! Genius chillout electronica.
