Red face Man Kills Teen for Walking on His Pefect Green Lawn, Police Say

BATAVIA, Ohio (March 20) - A man who neighbors say was devoted to his meticulously kept lawn was charged with murder in the shooting of a 15-year-old boy who apparently walked across his yard.

Charles Martin called 911 on Sunday afternoon, saying calmly: "I just killed a kid."

Police, who released the call's contents, said Martin also told the dispatcher: "I've been harassed by him and his parents for five years. Today just blew it up."

Larry Mugrage, whose family lived next door, was shot in the chest with a shotgun. The high school freshman was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Martin, 66, allegedly told police he had several times had problems with neighbors walking on his lawn. He remained jailed without bond Monday. His jailers said no attorney was listed for him.

Neighbors said Martin lived alone quietly, often sitting in front of his one-story home with its neat lawn, well-trimmed shrubbery and flag pole with U.S. and Navy flags flying.

Joanne Ritchie, 46, said Mugrage was known as "a good kid," but she always also considered Martin to be friendly.

Union Township is near Batavia, about 20 miles east of Cincinnati.

This is in my city... it's a suburb of Cincinnati. What I gather is that the man was constantly being irrirated by this kid and maybe some others. The kids knew that he did not want them on his lawn, so they played with him going on his lawn whenever they wanted in front of him. The kid did one of those "step one foot on the lawn" routines to get the guy mad, and it worked

According to whom? The guy who shot him? That's not really a reliable source of information right now.

And even if he did do this, did he deserve to be shot? The guy should have called the police and told them this kid was harrassing him.

That's a very good point!

It's too bad someone died, but I've learned over the years, a lot people are very touchy and weird about their homes and land sometimes and you shouldn't mess with them if they're sensitive about it because it will make them do totally crazy things.

Hmmm, I see a defense, the guy will claim he was high from fertilizer fumes and blame it all on the fertilizer companies.

OMFG I'm getting tired of you second guessing me all the time and nitpicking everything I say. I said I LIVE HERE... it's all over the news!!! The neighbors are interviewed. The kids' friends are interviewed. The police speak on what was said during the confession. The 911 tape is played. Give me a fucking break!!!!!!

And I purposefully made no judgement on whether he deserved to be shot or not. If you infer that I did and want to argue my non-point that's ridiculous.

I think you're getting very angry and defensive for no reason.

That's what a white picket fence is for, dude.

....This is fucked up, fucked up....

This is your blind spot, blind spot.
It should be obvious, but it's not.

You cannot kickstart a dead horse
You just crush yourself and walk away
I don't care what the future holds
Cause I'm right here in your arms today
With your fingers you can touch me

I'll be your black swan, black swan
I'm for spare parts, broken up.
