Your point is well made. In my heart, yes, I would rather people not eat meat. But I recognize that people will, so I try to put most of my energy into stopping the cruelty. People can afford free-range meat and eggs by cutting back on meat consumption.
And the people who are more interested in getting people not to eat meat want the cruelty to stop, too. It is just hard for them, as it is for me somtimes, to acknowledge that stopping cruelty is a more realistic campaign.
They are indeed two different issues, and I feel strongly about both, but just eliminating the cruelty would, in my opinion, make a huge difference. Thank you for your thoughtful reply.
