I'm being HONORED by an Educational Foundation!!

I am so surprised!! No wait...SHOCKED!!
The Principal called and left a message on my answering machine early this morning, but I never listened to the message because I was in such a hurry.
Anyway, I made a stop at Office Max to pick up some accessories for this printer installation [networking] project I'm doing for the school, when the Principal gestured from across the school lawn for me to see him. He was real serious, so I was like, "...ahhh hell, what happened?"
He greeted me all formally, which was very uncharacteristic of him because we've had a great working relationship. At this point, I'm thinking something's happened to my daughter.
He asked me to sit down. Then he said, "Well...I have some good news and some not so good news. Which do you want first?"
I told him the bad news first cuz I'm used to it.
He told me that he was resigning in order to spend more time with his family and to care for his parents who are both very ill.

He THEN preceded to tell me of this annual educational foundation that "...awards and honors the unsung heroes of the community", and that by unanimous voting, I had been selected as one of the recipients.
I just sat there looking at him with my mouth open...
He gave me a few seconds for the information to sink in and then smiled, shook my hand vigorously.

I could never have imagined ever receiving an award, much less being an honoree at a formal luncheon. I just enjoy working with kids, and making their learning experience as comfortable as possible. And want the teachers to know that they have someone on their side who admires, cares for, and appreciates all their efforts.

Well, I immediately called my wife, and mother, and am just now calm enough to write this and share my happiness with my friends here.
I am seriously on

It most certainly is!! What makes it even better is that I wasn't expecting anything. I just like to help improve the life of those I admire [teachers] and cherish [kids].

Oh, I've met some teachers here, and the poster named Jane works with quite an impressive scholarship foundation.
