Jakarta, Dec 24:
As many as 28 countries including India have expressed their readiness to join the first anniversary commemoration of the tsunami to be held in Banda Aceh on December 26 which will also be attended by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Yuri Octavian Thamrin, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia , said that the ministry has sent invitations to 87 countries.
Until yesterday, 28 countries, including Timor Leste have pledged to attend the commemoration. Timor Leste President Xanana Gusmao will represent his country.
Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore and South Korea will send their ministers while Brunei, Thailand and Vietnam will send representatives of ministerial level.
The other 23 countries will be represented by their ambassasors or heads of representatives in Indonesia. They are India, Austria, Belgium, China, France, Jordan, Kuwait, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Russia and Sweden.
