Madonna In Talks To Reprise Eva Perron On London's West End

Theater bigwigs in London are buzzing about Madonna reprising her big-screen role of Eva Peron in a new stage production of Evita, according to World Entertainment News Network.

Madge played the well-heeled, ambitious wife of corrupt Argentinian president Juan Peron in the film nine years ago; a planned 2003 stage production folded “when its authors, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, decided the city was not in the mood for serious musicals” — a situation only Madonna can remedy?

Discussions have resumed to launch the production in the West End next year

Wow, good news! Shame I won't be able to see it if it's in London.

From Wikipedia:

The term West End is most commonly used to refer to the West End of London, an area mostly in the City of Westminster and partly in the London Borough of Camden.

The West End contains most of London's major theatres, and is therefore synonymous with London theatre, hence a major tourist attraction.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_End

West End is to London as Broadway is to New York.

Best left-right combination by a German (and that includes Max Schmeling): Steffi Graf. All she did in 1987 was knock Navratilova out of #1 and try to knock Evert out of the sport. (Mike Lupica in "The Best and Worst of Tennis in 1987", World Tennis)

"A couple of years ago, we nicknamed Steffi Graf's forehand 'Jaws'. And that music would go perfectly when she starts running in to the net, swarming on that little ball." (JoAnne Russell, during the 1988 Wimbledon final between Graf and Navratilova)

What's she going to do about that phony British accent she's developed? You weren't born in Cheshire, hon, you were born in Detroit!

According to teletext Denise Van Outen has been specially chosen by Andrew Lloyd Webber to star as Eva Peron in next year's West End revival of Evita. There are rumours (not confirmed) that Will Young is up for the role of Che Guevera.
