One for the techies...!

Mmm I'm rather confused with my computer so if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it!

Basically the dvd drive on my computer won't work properly. It'll play commercial dvds fine, but when I put in a dvd that I've created or any home-burnt dvd the drive won't read it! These are all dvds that definately worked before...And they're not bootlegged dvds of films or anything, just footage I've shot and edited or my friends have.

Any ideas?

i think there are four kinds of dvd a burner can make you have to make sure you make a kind your dvd player can read

dvd-r
dvd+r
dvd-rw
dvd+rw
are the four kinds

there are more but these are the most common

That's exactly what I thought at first...I tried playing the dvds on a dvd player and a different dvd drive, and they work! So very curious....I hope there's nothing major wrong with the drive..

you might want to download new drivers/firmware from your dvd player's manufacturer. if it's a dell, you can use your service tag to pull up this information as well as the drivers.

DVD regions

Check if the PC has 'forgotten' which region it's supposed to be.
You can normally set it several times, but only about 5 or so.
If you don't have specific software for the DVD drive, look in control panel, or 'my computer', properties, Hardware, Device Manager. select the drive, then click 'properties' then lok for the tab marked 'DVD region'.
pm or email me if you have questions.

we know she can do it, she knows she can do it. It's just a matter of time. C'mon Danka

I had a CDRW drive which stopped being able to burn... turns out it was only rated for a few 100 burns by the manufacturer, and I had done too many! That's not really relevant is it.

And I bet some of that footage is genius. How pesky!

My idea - put in a funding bid, claim to be a company that trains young people, get new computer. Or blame it on someone else who uses the computer and get them to pay for their supposed fuck-up.

Not for the want of trying, sPam. It's not my fault I couldn't co-ordinate myself on the the 2 occasions I saw you. Besides, my camera would have taken 10 years to start up and I know you don't like that.

Yeah that's a particular vice of mine...it's from ALL those darn photo calls and press shoots living the International Super Star life that I do...Kinda gets very tiresome. But not at Wimby, you guys knew your stuff. Your official photography really knew what she was doing!
As for missing me on film....I was teasing ya....actually my vowels have been known to cause electrical equipment to malfunction...
