Kelly Clarkson Dissapointing or not?

When I first heard KC's voice I was amazed she is such a fantastic singer beautiful girl she had it all....but her music I find really boring she sings like Dawsons Creek type music or something.

She do any type of music she wants with that voice... rock, r&b, pop, ballads but this mesh of everything isnt working for me...

Good luck to:
Serena Williams, Lindsay Davenport, Elena Dementieva, Anastacia Myskina, Chanda Rubin, Ana Ivanovic, and Jennifer Capriati (come back soon!)

James Blake, Marat Safin, Carlos Moya, Rafa Nadal, Andre Agassi, and David Nalbandian.

Respect to Beenie man reggae dancehall best musiq ever!

Big up to Arsenal and Fulham yeah baby!! kick ass! (got 2 best ladies teams too!)

She's like Joss Stone to me, although I like Joss Stone. The voice is nice but the music/lyrics isn't something that really draws me in.

Are you fucking crazy? Have you even heard her new album "Breakaway" That is NOT Dawson's creek music. She is coming into her own and her new album is her own stuff, much of which she wrote/cowrote. It is much edgier and rock sounding, much more so than Thankful was. It's my favorite CD ever and has been in the top 10 (save just 3-4 weeks) on the charts since its release 7 months ago.

Most people get mad or upset because her album isn't full of songs that simply show off her incredible voice. As great as that would be, no album like that would be a huge seller. Pop music doesn't just show off voices, otherwise a lot of the singers we have out today would be unheard of.

Also, what about this lyric comment? Her lyrics are deep and meaningful. Listen to "Addicted" or "Because of You" or "I Hate Myself For Losing You" if you disagree. I HOPE you are all basing your opinions on her first album only and have yet to appreciate her new album. Otherwise I am way confused.

The lyric comment is exactly what it is. Her lyrics and music don't mean the same to me that they mean to you. She has the voice but that's all that I personally give her. Simple as that. But it's great that she works for you.

My thoughts exactly about both singers. They both are talented, nice, and good looking girls. Yet, they need better, more original music with smarter lyrics.

i don't generally like her type of music but i'd be lying if i said i haven't liked her last 2 songs "Since you've been gone" and "Behind these hazel eyes".

She's the only Idol person who is likely to have a success career as an international draw card. i give her a lot of credit for shaking the idol stigma. i don't even think about it anymore actually with her.

Same. She's the only pop singer I like these days. I absolutely detest every song from Thankful except maybe "You thought wrong," but I love this new album. I can really feel her pain, both in her voice and in her lyrics. I have to skip over "Breakaway," but that's easy to do because it is the first song. Otherwise, really really good, especially "Because of You" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes".

As for a disappointment, she's the only good Idol person ever. When you do talent shows like this, people invariably vote on who has the best voice. In the music industry, having a good voice by itself gets you about nowhere unless you are in the league of Mariah, Whitney, Celine and Christina (who turned out to be way more than a voice.) If someone were that good, she wouldn't need American Idol to get a record contract. Other than those legends, everyone has to be able to sing with emotion and write catchy but meaningful songs (except for Rap people, but I generally don't consider that music, although some of it, especially the stuff not on the radio, is quite enjoyable.) They also have to be musically gifted, not just endowed with a good voice. These other idol people have none of the above qualities.

The one possible exception is this latest girl. She seems well suited for country music, and seems to have a genuine passion for that genre. However, Kelly is 1 in a million in the sense that she wanted to make it, had a vision, had multiple areas of talent, and had the courage to break away from American Idol. No one else on that show is going to replicate Kelly's success or longevity, IMHO.

I like Since You Been Gone, but I find her rock thing to be contrived. JMO.

Fantasia did well for herself in the R&B category and is no where near a flop. As Kelly has done well in whatever market she's attracted, Fantasia's kicked ass in my opinion and will have just as long of a career if not longer than any idol.

I've only heard Fantasia on the radio 3 or 4 times. She hasn't been that successful.

I thought I was rather clear in my post about the markets, the radio stations I listen to, would never and have never to this point had a Kelly Clarkson song on. Fantasia is all over them and even Latoya gets more name dropping for example. If we use your not hearing about Fantasia then Kelly by the same rate isn't at all successful.

Kelly's lyrical content is really not that bad. But I am bothered by much of her melodies which often seem rather contrived and overdone.

I actually like Breakaway as a song, but Since You Been Gone, which starts out promising and even though its sold I think like 3 million copies, is just an average pop-rock song.

The cresendo makes her seem like she is shrieking, (which makes me cringe everytime it gets to that moment) and I know her voice is much more disciplined than that.

But Kelly to me is the real deal. Hopefully, she will just get better with time and as her voice continues to mature.
