With Winter Solstice having just passed, I got to thinking it would be fun and enlightening to begin a discussion here on world religions, religious beliefs, practices, histories, and the many cultures, peoples, folkways and mores present here on the WTAWorld board. I'll start, as I am an American, and a citizen of the United States of America, living here in this country. We are, from my studies, a conglomeration of peoples and religious beliefs from all over the world- a veritible melting pot, although quite different in contrast to the melting pot that is Brazil for example. I was raised in a fundamental christian household, and taught to think that this nation was founded on "traditional" christian principles and doctrines. As I have grown, I have learned to move away from narrow-minded, limited worldviews and to open my mind and see all of the religious influences that make up the tapestry of where I am, and those who came before me, and continue to shape the global future. I now consider myself a citizen of the world, and am thoroughly enjoying learning as much as I can about the history and beliefs that make up the human race as we know it. Where are you from, and what is your religious background and upbringing? Share you thoughts.
