NY Info?

Does anyone know of any good tours to take around NY for abour 3-4 days. I wanted to take a Contiki tour, which lasted 3 days, and included accommodation, but it doesn't start on a convenient date for me. I'll hopefully be going next June sometime.

Any info is welcome (including what I should see, where to stay etc).

Hey Inkyfan!

But I'll have to reply in english, because I can't type Dutch, although I can understand everything you wrote! Do you have any suggestions of area's to stay in while I am there? Because I don't really know where it's safe or unsafe. Do you know if you can watch the filming of SNL? That would be really cool! The buses around Manhattan sound cool, bcause I'd love to see that! I'm not so sure about the ferry though - I get seasick very easily. But you have to take the ferry for the Statue of Liberty right?

yes you have to take ferry, as far as I know... Me and my parents stayed at Carter hotel, nearby times square just around the corner. It wasn't a high class hotel, but surely enough to sleep well, take a good shower and watch telly About the safety....You have to ask a NY native I guess... but I do know that times square stays very busy at night and Carter was really nearby so I thought it was kinda safe. Maybe a more expensive hotel is safer though...but we rather spend our money on other things! SNL?????

You only live once, hon, stick it on a credit card and stay at the Helmsley Palace or the Plaza. I honestly can't think of being able to fill 3-4 days on a tour. You can take a boat around Manhattan island for like far less than a day, and the hotel can get you tickets or tell you where to go to get them. Apart from that, just get a tourists guide and explore, walking the streets of NY is half the fun and you don't need a "tour" for that. Statue of Liberty sucks, skip that. Central Park is nice, but again, two legs gets you around there with no tour. Museums are on maps, you don't need a tour, same with Saks, Bloomies, and the other stores. The hotel can help you with Broadway tickets, or just buy them at the box office as long as it's not like the hottest who in town. Stop and eat anywhere, it's all good.

I'll second that! The last time I was in the Big Apple was for the car show, and we stopped at this little BBQ bar/restaurant nearby, and the food was great, and the bartender actually lifted her t-shirt and showed us her titties on the way out. Don't be afraid- it's actually a much safer place than you think- especially after 911.

P.S.- the cabs are cheap, and the best way to get around town on weekends. If you're a museum person, just let me know.

There is nothing more beautiful than Evonne Goolagong in full flight moving across a tennis court.

Don't stay there. That woman was mean to me when I was doing a charity luncheon at the place. She mistook me for one of the maids and verbally abused me for messing up the silverware settings.

I stay at either the Waldorf, Plaza, or St. Regis when I visit New York. I got rid of my apartment there back in the mid 90s.

Bitch! I always envied the Queen of Mean's moxie, but she needs to put a lid on it around celebrities.

Ok, then stick to the Plaza or like the Waldorf. Also, there's some art deco place a friend of mine stayed.

Yes, I think she does. She's on the Fortune 100 or something, I saw it. Her middle name is Mindy, I couldn't stop laughing, I hadn't heard that name in ages.

No, I'm totally fucking serious, it says on the list "Leona Mindy Rosenthal Helmsley" she was like hovering around 90 or something. I think she's richer than Speilberg, but not quite at Oprah, that I can recall. I am totally sure of the name.

No wonder she's the queen of mean with a name like that. I bet she got teased at school a lot and it toughened her up. She just doesn't look like a Mindy. When I think Mindy I think about slutty cheerleader type, not the Queen Bitch of New York.

The broad was born in 1920, who the hell was named "Mindy" in 1920?
