Arrow The next black female superstar has arrived. Her name's Kerry Washington.

There are a lot of great reason to see Ray (the awesome music, Jamie Foxx, Regina King, Aunjanue Ellis, historical change in the record industry) but at the top of my list is Kerry Washington. Yep, she's a total babe but she can act!!! She lights up the screen! There's a lot of good black actresses with crossover potential like Halle Berry, namely Gabrielle Union and Sanaa Lathan but when you see Kerry in Ray you'll notice she's got that little something extra. Jump on the Kerry Washington bandwagon now!

Ray (2004)

She Hate Me (2004)

Bad Company (2002)

Save The Last Dance (2001)

Best movie of the year so far...(but see Friday Night Lights too)

I saw Ray yesterday.

Great movie!!! Ms. Washington was great in it. Actresses have done much less and recieved Oscar consideration.

If Jamie Foxx doesn't win the Oscar for his performance (awesome!!!) then whenever he finally does get one the press will say it was a "make up" Oscar for not getting it for Ray, he's that friggin' good!!!

I'm a little biased because I've met Foxx and he's a good guy in real life too. A good friend of mine played high school football and basketball at Foxx's rival high school down in Texas (see Friday Night Lights too so you'll get how important that link really is).

Finally Regina King played against type (she's usually a cute and sassy stereotype but she's fully developed and does a great job in Ray). Actually damn near every actor in Ray does a great job with whatever they have to bring to the table. Also some of Ray Charles songs never sound better than in this movie with historical perspective and creative context behind them.

Go see Ray!!!

If your fave's coach isn't Richard Williams, that's just her first problem...

I was there when the ALL BLACKS won the World Cup in 2011!!!

"I don't know that I changed all that much. They just found somebody worse." - Aging tennis bad boy Jimmy Connors, referring to John McEnroe, in 1984.

There can never be too many "Sister Slams!"

No need to jump on the bandwagon here.

Loved her since "Save the Last Dance"
and heard she(along with Regina King) was
amazing in "Ray"!

Can't wait to see it!

I loved Kerri Washington in Lift. She is a good actress with a lot of potential.

I am going to see Ray later on. Once I saw the promos I could not wait to see the movie.

I bet none of you have seen her first film.. which is called "Our Song". It is sort of like Larry Clark's "Kids" without all of the shock value. It is a nice barebones drama about three inner-city girls and their struggles. It also revolves heavily around a marching band they are a part of. It's filmed like a documentary. Kerry looks way different in it.
