The world likes Americans...hates GW Bush!

In a new series of polls pulbished today, 10 countries around the world were asked their opinion of the Americans and its presidential candidates...

Opinions of the US people are generally positive...

72% of the French say they have a favourable view of the Americans as a whole...73% of Canadians say the same, while the number is 62% in Britain (So Americans are actually more liked in France than Britain! A surprise!)

Crucially these numbers help give the lie to the Republican charge that all the anti-Bush sentiment is merely the work of the usual anti-American suspects.

When voters were asked whether they had a favourable or unfavourable opinion of GW Bush, there were radically different results...

75% unfavourable in France
64% in Canada and Australia

How about Britain, leading ally in the war on terror, truest friend in the world... Surely they like GW? Nah! 60% unfavourable to 25% favourable!

Only ONE country in the ten gave Bush the vote as favourable...and they did it in a BIG way...

70% Favourable opinion of GW.
24% Unfavourable

Who? Israel.

If you want to know how balanced GW's take on Israel/Palestine has been, then look at those numbers! Israel is the one major country that loves GW!

When it comes to voting Bush v Kerry, 8 out of the 10 countries go for Kerry, and by a long way.

In Britain its Kerry 50% Bush 22%...Kerry 60% Bush 20% in Canada...Kerry 72% Bush 16% in France.

Russia in the wake of its own wave of terrorism, goes narrowly for Bush. The hardline Putin not too far from hardline Bush.

The one country to go clearly for Bush is...Israel again, 50% for Bush, just 24% for Kerry.

For me this is not surprising. However for some of the Americans this will be.

Again, the vital thing is that its not a totally anti-American poll...it shows that people's problem is NOT with Americans but is with GW Bush.

I am the world! Cool! Or the world is agreeing with me! Whatever!

Well, I walk into the room
Passing out hundred dollar bills
And it kills and it thrills like the horns on my Silverado grill
And I buy the bar a double round of crown
And everybody's getting down
And this town ain't never gonna be the same.
Cause I saddle up my horse and I ride into the city
I make a lot of noise
Cause the girls, they are so pretty...

All

Yeah, I'm not anti-USA, but GW Bush is more of a threat for world's peace than Saddam Hussein was... GWB actually has Weapons of Mass Destruction...

Why would we hate Americans? Why would we need a poll to state what is fact?
The majority of Americans are law abiding -hard working - genuine friendly people. The same as in any country throughout the world. It’s not the people that the likes of Europe has a problem with - it’s American foreign policy which stirs up hatred and anti-American fervour throughout the world.
As for 9/11 it wasn’t an attack solely against America. It was an attack which occurred on American soil against every democratic state throughout the world.
True it had been influenced by events in the Middle East - but during 'Desert Storm' many nationalities took part in the liberation of Kuwait.

Anybody who has left the US and not had one seriously negative experience on their one trip out ever should believe that

Disliking the government and disliking the people are two very, very different things. Some people group the two together, but those people aren't rational. There is little sense trying to reason with the irrational. Thankfully, those people are not the majority

I think many of you from other countries have this bizarre idea that your views of American Domestic politics are of any importance. I couldn't care less about what these other countries think of Bush, WE choose OUR president and it doesn't matter what a bunch of people from Europe, who don't know what's going on in our country in the first place, think.

Go Ai, Venus, Na, Tamarine!

The American government's views on Iraqi domestic politics seem to have been of some importance, eh?

People being concerned about the foreign policy of a rich, powerful, active nation makes perfect sense. I'm sorry to hear that you can't understand that and have this bizarre idea that this means we think you care.
