The Mystery of the Bulge in the Jacket

By ELISABETH BUMILLER

Published: October 9, 2004

ASHINGTON, Oct. 8 - What was that bulge in the back of President Bush's suit jacket at the presidential debate in Miami last week?

According to rumors racing across the Internet this week, the rectangular bulge visible between Mr. Bush's shoulder blades was a radio receiver, getting answers from an offstage counselor into a hidden presidential earpiece. The prime suspect was Karl Rove, Mr. Bush's powerful political adviser.

When the online magazine Salon published an article about the rumors on Friday, the speculation reached such a pitch that White House and campaign officials were inundated with calls.

First they said that pictures showing the bulge might have been doctored. But then, when the bulge turned out to be clearly visible in the television footage of the evening, they offered a different explanation.

"There was nothing under his suit jacket," said Nicolle Devenish, a campaign spokeswoman.

"It was most likely a rumpling of that portion of his suit jacket, or a wrinkle in the fabric."

Ms. Devenish could not say why the "rumpling" was rectangular.

Nor was the bulge from a bulletproof vest, according to campaign and White House officials; they said Mr. Bush was not wearing one.

I hope not, because whoever fed him the answers should be immediately and permanently terminated!

From 'T' to 'Hump' - Who's "got" Bush's back?Saturday October 9, 2004 10:31 AM
Here's a side-by-side look at Bush's back in the two debates so far:

Here is the AP original, at least until they scrub it.

On Friday, the NY Times, the Washington Post, and Knight-Ridder tried to get an explanation for the "T" - but none did very well (see below). If the White House couldn't explain the "T", how will they explain the "hump"?

Many people believe it's a communications device to feed answers to Bush (see http://isbushwired.com/).

But it could also be a medical device, which might explain why Bush refused to take his physical this year, just like he did in 1972 when he deserted the National Guard.

Stay tuned...

And on the night of 9/11, when Bush appeared on television to address the nation, viewers of one television station in Quincy, Massachusetts heard another voice speaking, slowly and carefully, a few words at a time -- words which were then recited by the president. The voice was nondescript, male, definitely not the president's voice, says Quincy resident Robyn Miller. This went on for at least four sentences, she says, and then the "extra" feed was cut off. [Postscript: A poster to IsBushWired comments that she heard the prompter for Bush's 9/11 address on a New York station: "I was watching ABC in NYC. I had no cable and I could only get ABC from my antenna at that time (the only station that transmitters on the Empire State instead of WTC). I definitely heard the prompter. I posted about it at the time at Salon."]

He's actually pre-testing a new kind of defibrillator for President Cheney.

hmmmm
i downloaded the image, upon close examination, there is clearly a bungle there, and if you ZOOMING in, to point where you can see every pixel, you can clearly see there is something behind bushes ear.

HOWEVER, i want to wait and see how this plays out, i know the GWB crew is not not the brightest there is but i HOPE they would not so clearly and blatanly lie to EVERYONE like this, its really eaiser to accept that bush is just a stupid man, than to say that he aides would feed him really really stupid answers.

Actually, the exam might have included a brain scan, and come up blank! (I hope Jigglypuff won't tell any swing voters in Ohio that one).

i went to college in ohio, right. so all my friends who are still there, have changed thier states of residence to ohio so they can vote in a swing state and well, help swing the vote.

pathetic.

i don't like bush, but don't let your hatred blind you and make you irrational.

you think the CIA/FBI etc don't have better wiring technology than a simple wire on the back? cmon, even small town police use wires on the chest cos it's less obvious. and you KNOW the CIA has the hot shit when it comes to top of the line wiring. of course the president would have access to this technology instead of using some wiring shit bought at radio shack

be realistic.

....This is fucked up, fucked up....

This is your blind spot, blind spot.
It should be obvious, but it's not.

You cannot kickstart a dead horse
You just crush yourself and walk away
I don't care what the future holds
Cause I'm right here in your arms today
With your fingers you can touch me

I'll be your black swan, black swan
I'm for spare parts, broken up.

This is like the "Is Paul McCartney Dead" thing in the late 60's, when ppl said that playing certain (vinyl LP records) backwards revealed John Lennon referring to it. And the line from A Day in the Life: "He blew his mind out in a car". And (only) Paul being barefoot on the cover of the album Abbey Road.

Thank you for saying what was so obvious to me, but curiously seems to be, uhh, overlooked by those whose hatred for Bush is matched only by their inexplicable inability to attribute anything good to him. Not since Reagan has a president been so hated by the left. Were I Bush, I would take great comfort in that fact.

You're OK, DL...for a commie!
