Torino 2006 - Mascot launched

Neve and Gliz, these are the mascots
of the up-coming Olympic Winter Games
of Torino 2006: the most original couple
in the history of the Olympics.

She, a soft, friendly and elegant
snowball. He a lively, playful ice cube. Neve and Gliz remind us, in the shapes
of their bodies and in sounds of their
names, the two elements indispensable
for the performance of the winter
disciplines: snow and ice.

Together they synthesize the highest
Italian and Olympic values: friendship
and enthusiasm, loyalty and good times, design and the capacity to innovate.

The mascots of the Olympic Winter
Games of Torino 2006 will give life
to the dream and to the challenge
of a planetary event rich with universally
recognized values.

Something was bound to go right sometime today, All these broken pieces fit together to make a perfect picture of us
It got cold and then dark so suddenly and rained, It rained so hard the two of us were the only thing
That we could see for miles and miles
And in the middle of the flood I felt my worth, When you held onto me like I was your little life raft
Please know that you were mine as well
Drops of water hit the ground like God's own tears
And spread out into shapes like Salad bowls and basins and buckets for bailing out the flood

I've just been on the official website www.torino2006.org where you can see a whole little movie with the mascots practising different winter sports... they're kinda cute and sweet... and of course, I guess my view is a tad biased

'What a piece of work is man, how noble in reason'

I like it, glad that athens and torino don't use animal as mascot for once, it is refreshing !!
