More than 1 milion people have returned to their homes in Bosnia and Herzegovina after fleeing the conflict of 1992-95, the United Nations refugee agency said yesterday.
Nearly half returned to areas where they are a minority, including many of the places worst hit by the conflict.
Under the terms of the 1995 Dayton peace agreement, Bosnia, with a population of nearly 4m, is divided into a Muslim-Croat entity and the Serb-controlled Republika Srpska.
Another half a million people are still waiting to return home, including 313,000 displaced within Bosnia and about 100,000 refugees in neighbouring countries.
