Exclamation Brando's ashes scattered along with those of his late "friend" Wally Cox

(Hel, what was going on with Marl and Wally??)

Report: Brando's ashes scattered

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The ashes of legendary actor Marlon Brando were spread in Tahiti and Death Valley, according to a newspaper report.

A memorial service for Brando, who died of lung failure at age 80 on July 1, was held at the home of Hollywood producer Mike Medavoy and was attended by Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson and Sean Penn, the Los Angeles Times reported in Wednesday editions.

In the last months before his death, Brando had dropped 85 pounds from his once-large frame and needed a portable oxygen tank to aid his breathing, family members and friends said. But he sought to keep his condition quiet.

Some of Brando's ashes were scattered in Death Valley, a place that the actor cherished, his son Miko Brando told the newspaper. The ashes of Brando's late friend Wally Cox, who died in 1973, were also poured onto the desert landscape as part of the same ceremony; how Cox's ashes were in the possession of Brando's family was unknown.

Despite being known as a recluse, Brando ventured to Neverland Ranch more than a year before he died to visit pop star Michael Jackson, whom he'd first met through Quincy Jones in the 1980s. Jackson is the godfather of Brando's nine-year-old granddaughter Prudence.

"The last time my father left his house to go anywhere, to spend any kind of time, it was with Michael Jackson," Miko Brando, a longtime Jackson employee, told the newspaper.

Brando's son also spoke of how friends and family will try to preserve the actor's legacy. Most notable is a collection of DVDs based on unreleased footage shot within the past three years showing Brando teach acting to Jon Voight, Nick Nolte and Penn.

Also being discussed is cataloguing hundreds of pencil drawings made by Brando and obtaining trademarks on the actor's name and likeness.

Neely, you've been in the business long enough to know that 90% of the people in Hollywood are how shall we say.... ambiguous.

There were VERY subtle and VERY quiet rumors over the years that Brando had had a few things with men here and there. I didn't think it was Karl Malden, but I didn't peg it as Wally Cox either. He's cute in a dorkish kind of way. I mean, I wouldn't have given him a second look, but I am, after all, me. They were also "roommates" when they were struggling actors. We know what that means in the biz, Neely, I mean, I struggled for years in Hollywood having to support that bloodsucking family of mine, namely mom and Florence, but I never had a "roommate." Those whack agents of yours stole a ton of your money and even drugged you at times, but you never resorted to a "roommate" either, so I think it's clear.

That's true, Sal, but when you were struggling and doing your gig at the Pasadena Playhouse when you were 18 after you'd left Portland to make it big, you didn't have any "roommate."

I hear it still took 4 men to carry Marlon's ashes!

Can we talk?!

Ricki Lake and Oprah Winfrey have gained and lost 300lbs between them over the years - that's one whole Kirstie Alley!

Well I was a little more well to do than some of these people so I didn't have to get a "roommate."

Yes, Sal, a doctor's daughter, just rub it in why don't you? Growing up in poverty really didn't have a single benefit for me. When I made it big and had to start supporting mom and my sister Florence, they certainly forgot about their poverty roots pretty fast. I figured I could get away with just paying the rent on the slummy apartment in Brookyln and send a little dough for groceries every month. Wrong! Boy, they wanted the house in Brentwood, the minks, the Cadillacs, it was like they were the movie star and I was the poor relative! They lived better than I did. And I wasn't even the favorite kid growing up! If only I'd known Joan Rivers then, she could have taught me to make Florence my on-screen side-kick to relieve the burden on my purse. At one point, I'm supporting Jess because his contract wasn't renewed at the studio, both twins, mom, and Florence. $200,000 a year was a ton of money in the late 1940's, but it wasn't that much!

Be glad you came from bucks Sal, because supporting the whole damn family sucks.

James Dean was also bisexual too, I keep meaning to ask you Hollywood insiders what ever happened to his Porsche Spyder he crashed in? Someone said years ago, like in the 70s somebody stole the wreckage and it's not been seen since.

I'm BACK & SINGLE. So lock up all the hotties!

I find it ridiculious that men can't have close relationships with other men and not be subjected to these rumors. Shame on you, shame on you all!

Hon, in real life, that's true. In Hollywood, men don't have close relationships unless they're having sex. That's just Hollywood!

You don't see John Wayne mixing his ashes with Bing Crosby!

BRANDO'S ASHES SCATTERED WITH GAY LOVER'S

Sep 24 2004

Farewell to film legend at ceremony in desert

By Ian Markham-Smith

SCREEN legend Marlon Brando's ashes have been scattered in the desert along with those of his gay lover.

Three-times-married Brando and actor Wally Cox, who met as young men at acting school, had long been rumoured to be lovers.

And when Brando was entrusted with Wally's ashes after his death in 1973, aged just 48, he kept them.

A friend said: 'Wally was the big love of Marlon's life.'

Marlon treasured the ashes and kept them at his home but left instructions that part of his ashes were to be mixed with Wally's so they could be scattered together in Death Valley - so that even in death they would not be parted.

'Wally's loss was the heartache that Marlon had to bear for so many years.'

Manchester, the star's son with his second wife Movita, confirmed some of Cox's ashes had been scattered with his dad's in the California desert.

More of Brando's remains were scattered on Tahiti, where he bought a home after filming Mutiny sive or insul there.

Miko would not give details of why Cox's ashes were mixed with his fathers. He would only say it seemed like the right thing to do,adding: 'He was his best friend.'

Brando, who is believed to have had at least 16 children, and Cox, who was married twice, met at the famous Stella Adler acting studio in New York in the 1940s.

They shared a home for a while but it was rumoured Cox moved out because he could not stand Brando's pet raccoon.

Godfather star Brando, who died in June at 80 of lung failure, was devastated at Cox's death from a heart attack.

The New York Post reported yesterday: 'After he died, Marlon Brando's ashes were mixed together with those of his lover Wally Cox and scattered in .'

Cox,who wore thick glasses was noted for playing characters with meek and shy personalities, seemed an unlikely match for the brooding Brando.

But they remained close for decades, prompting Hollywood speculation about the nature of their relationship.

Well, despite the attitude of the men I've been married to, I'm really a live and let live kind of dame, so the guy on guy thing doesn't offend me, but I think mixing ashes is a little gross. Couldn't they just be buried near each other?

I think it's a sweet gesture if they were lovers, best friends or whatever. Even thou they might have, or might not have been lovers, it's true Brando loved his friend reguardless and even in death wanted them to remain close.

I'm BACK & SINGLE. So lock up all the hotties!
