Odds based on previous awards and general expectations

So Get Pickin!!!!!!!

Some Handy Tips
[i]
*Lord of the Rings is the overwhelming favorite to take the "Best Picture" Award.Although it lost out on the Golden Globe, this is the precise kind of movie which the Oscar commitee likes
*Russell Crowe ,has swept all the awards so far.If not him ,it would be Will or Denzel who have an extremely small chance
*The Best Actress category is unpredictable, but you could expect Sissy who has won most of the awards so far ,to be the outright favourite. Nicole who has had tremendous publicity backing her could also get the Oscar.Judi and Halle also have slim chances)
* Though Amelie has created waves all over the world ,and is expected by almost everyone to take the Oscar, it has fallen into badluck at almost every single film festival or award function this year. Some people suspect this string of shock losses could rub off on the Oscars. "No Man's Land" which won the Golden Globe would be a safer pick.

you also have to consider the results of the SAG awards. because the voters in SAG make up the largest portion of voters for the oscars.

It's not shyness I have. It's just that I'm not one of those people who loves to open a newspaper of magazine and see myself all the time. I don't like that at all. I prefer to play my tennis which I love, and with which I've been blessed.

BEST PICTURE: Moulin Rouge ($25)
BEST DIRECTOR: Ron Howard "A Beautiful Mind ($50)
BEST ACTOR: Russell Crowe "A Beautiful Mind" ($100)
BEST ACTRESS: Nicole Kidman "Moulin Rouge" ($10)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Ian McKellen "Lord Of The Rings" ($25)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Jennifer Connelly "A Beautiful Mind" ($40)
BEST FOREIGN FILM: Amelie France ($50)

Picking Nicole for "Moulin Rouge" is my longshot. Actually, I don't think she'll win unless it's an upset. Halle Berry won the SAG but Sissy Spacek has picked up nearly everything else before her.

Btw, the SAG constitutes only a quarter of the committee that votes for the acting nods. There is also the Producer's Guild, the Director's Guild and the Writer's Guild. There's a lot more people involved in this than I thought.

I changed my pick for Best Picture. I just have this funny feeling... that I'm wrong.

" The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in battle "
" When you're not training, someone else is training... TO KICK YOUR ASS! "
" It's not the size of the dog in a fight, but the size of the fight in a dog. "

Hey again guys.
Yeah agree Halle Berry is a steal, but Sissy is again the overwhelming fave to take the award. Most critics have picked her to win the Oscar. You also have to consider the fact that Halle won the SAG award and many SAG members are members of the Oscar comittee. So Halle does have a chance.

Well ,here are my picks so far.I'm not betting ,just prediciting.
Mostly based on whom critics have picked and some on my gut feeling.
Film : Lord of Rings (ABM has a chance, but this one should take it IMO)
Actor : Russell Crowe ( Should make it)
Actress : Sissy (Coz of all the rave)
Supporting Actress : Jennifer ( well ....obviously!!!)
Supporting Actor : Ian Mckellen (?)
Foriegn Film : No man's Land ( People are insisting that Amelie's hype is irritating the Oscar commitee members)

I also forgot to mention that you can change your picks by editing your posts any time
