Re: "Arts & Crafts" Chat Thread

I have drawn and painted. I paint when I have some time, which is rare these days. I really want to dedicate some time to landscape paintings though.

Re: "Arts & Crafts" Chat Thread

I myself have always been interested in everything I used to draw, write short stories, even tried songwriting in my "emo" days
but now I find less and less time to do those things, so I just wait until the inspiration hits me or something
I am trying to write on a more daily basis tho because it relaxes me

well free to share ya'll

Re: "Arts & Crafts" Chat Thread

I'll put a few things up here later on,

Im quite big into Gardening and Vege Gardening, we had fertile soil in South Africa

I also do a bit of metal craft, i'll send some photos through here later on of what I do, it's nothing fancy,

I also do up horsefloats and trailers in my spare time to earn a quick buck, not to sure knowing how to use a Mig welder or Arc Welder is a craft, but it's fun none the less!

A lot of adults don't have time for the arts.

Sadly most of my best creative pieces are no longer with me. I quite enjoyed art and crafts back in high school.
Some of my work still hanging in the corridors actually. Unfortunately don't quite have the pictures.

I tend to be a sketch, etch and pastel guy.

Etching on black paper was one of my first projects and it worked really nice. Everyone else was into lino which is extremely tedious work but etching is quick, easy finish and you can plan ahead.

Here is an example of what you can do with it (though my detail would not be quite as good as this!)

The lines are so crisp with the etching tool, really a lot of fun to try.

I used pastels to draw a sunset (I know, so cliché). However I added a little bit of mineral turpentine to 'melt' the colours so you get great blended finish.

I also did a cream oil paint of a moon/exploding bomb hybrid. A bit bummed I seem to have chucked it out because it looked really nice.

What I do have left is one of my routine felt tip random sketches when I was bored.
meant to be some sort of drawing obstacle course. As you can see, my style is awfully similar to the Just! series of sketches that Andy Griffiths (well his illustrator, Terry Denton) produced. To be perfectly honest I have no idea how I came up with it.

Last week I bought some dried white berries, burlap, twine and ribbon, and I'm hoping that this weekend I can make something like this to put on my fireplace mantel. We'll see how it turns out
