low carb diets and low carb foods - any good?

Just wondering if there are anybody here going on low carb diets.

What do you think of the diet?

Personally, I'm pretty well in shape...but have tried out the low carb diets in the past....no pasta or bread, just strictly on certain veggies and meats and cheeses. I've shed maybe 10 lbs from that and now in the way lower end of my normal weight range....recently I'm back eating some carbs...and i've not been gaining much weight at all from it......i'm not sure if the low carb diet, along with exercise, is making me not gain any weight...since my doctors have said that I'm in very good health right now.

Also what do you think of low carb foods that are out now? What do you think of the taste of them?

I recently tried out the ultra low carb yogurt from yoplait....and I found it to taste like I'm eating butter....it was really disgusting

Well, my advice for dieting (may be a bit harsh) - eat less, exercise more. hehe

Women's tennis sucks.

I've stopped eating bad carbs - white bread, enriched flour, processed sugar and I've lost a significant amount of weight because of that.

However, I eat lots of oats and whole wheat and rye bread - the healthy carbs.

All-in-all I've lost a tremendous amount of weight doing just that.

Smoke cigarettes and drink coffee all day like me. It keeps you really thin.

I hate the low carb diets. I still cant believe the Coke has this C2 shit, with no carbs. How in the hell are you going to take the carbohydrates out of a carbonated drink??

This may come as a shock, but Coke has already managed to remove carbohydrates from a carbonated beverage...and they named it Diet Coke!

From what I understand, Coke C2 will be made with sucralose (or a combination of sucralose and other sweeteners) rather than aspartame which is currently used in Diet Coke. Sucralose is derived from regular "table" sugar...the chemical structure of sugar is altered slightly (I believe 3 hydrogen-oxygen groups are replaced with 3 chlorine atoms) which results in a substance that's hundreds of times sweeter than sugar, but does not impact blood-glucose levels. In other words, your body doesn't recognize it as a sugar.

When you smoke cigarettes all day long one off of the other one and drink about 4 pots of coffee a day, you never get hungry. That is the "natural" way to lose weight, not diet or exercise. Sometimes I go 2 days without eating because I just am not hungry.

The "carbonated" refers to carbon dioxide, which is added to the drink to give it the bubbly feel. It has nothing to do with carbohydrates.

Can someone post a list of "good" carbohydrates and "bad" carbohydrates?

eating less does nothing but screw you over, you need food to give you energy and if you are exercising you need more energy to get effective results otherwise there is no point in exercising. eating right is also important.

imo the best diet is a mix of carbs and protien. before you exercise you have the carbs for energy and after the exercise you have the protien for repair and recovery. if you dont have enough protien then your muslces dont recover quickly enough for your next exercise session and it isnt as effective. especially when it comes to building muscle.

That's only if you want to build muscle though.

Eat complex carbs and exercise. Don't eat less cause you'll just get hungry and start eating junk (if you can't find anything else).

omg i actually agree with you about something. complex carbs are very important and cutting them out of your diet is very dangerous to your health and general energy levels.

i can't stand these fad diets. the only one i give any credence to is the GI diet, and that's only because it actually focuses on health rather than losing weight as fast as possible.
