Violence, Homophobia, Police Brutality and Race-Relations News

Hello Non-Tennis posters,

We, the Non-Tennis Moderators, have observed an increase in the number of threads related to discrimination. This type of threads include themes such as racism, homophobia, police-related problems, etc.

As such, we have decided to open this Diversity-Related Problems Thread. We recognize the importance of these issues, and in order to make sure they get the discussion they deserve and aren't ignored, all topics regarding these issues will be moved into this thread. The previous threads about such problems will not be merged.

While this is a place for open discussion, the rules of conduct of this forum are still to be followed. Respect is expected, even more so with these themes.
Any further doubts should be forwarded to the Non-Tennis moderators.

The Non-Tennis Moderators,

@pancake , @Rui. , @Ryan

@pancake , @Rui. , @Ryan

Last year I'd suggested to the mods that they make a separate section - a sub-forum - for those issues. I still think that makes sense but having a single thread for all those sorts of various News and topics is ridiculous!

If the aim is to greatly reduce postings about anything other than "favorite songs" etc then yes it is an effective step.

If that's not the aim, please re-consider the sub-forum approach. As for moderating it, see if there's a mod who'd like to oversee that section. Maybe @CrossCourt~Rally

Yeah but IMO this is worse. There's such a broad range of topics and events. I think the subforum solution is the best one. Which terminology aside - just amounts to grouping the threads. Just find mods who want to oversee it.

Now we just need a thread like this for all things related to Serena...

oh wait, there is the player forum, it is just ignored.

re: Violence, Homophobia, Police Brutality and Race-Relations News

Having one thread for discussions serves the same purpose as a sub-forum, and has worked perfectly for the Political Discussion thread.

We recognize that its a broad range of issues and topics, which is why we'll closely monitor everything and make decisions about what is appropriate to include and what can be left as a separate thread. There is going to be a learning curve, so we just ask that you all have an open mind about it for now.

Wrong again, Pointdexter. Serena Slam is active and serving its intended purpose. You're more than welcome to ignore any Serena threads in GM; no one is forcing you to read them.

Will you be merging currently open threads into one because otherwise these trolls will just keep bumping that various spammed threads already existing.

Our original intent was to merge any new threads created since the announcement, but if discussions continue to take place in existing threads those will be merged as well. Just spending a bit of time today monitoring how things go.

What difference does it make? You'll be in the merged thread bitching and moaning as usual, anyway.

Thanks Ryan. This move will make this a better place. The spam was getting ridiculous.

Please focus on being civil. If you can't post without attacking someone, we have a very simple solution.

But he can call us trolls for creating threads that make him feel some type of way? Ok.
