Changing Rooms

I wonder, does anyone else watch this show? Would you ever let them decorate a room in your house?

I don't understand this show. The owners say "I love light colours, I'd be very disappointed if they'd make the room red or black..."

Designer opens paint cans and reveals.....RED paint!

Owners say: "they may change everything, may touch everything except for the antique 17th centure cupboard"

Next shot: they're painting the antique 17th century cupboard!!

I always cringe when I see them do things like that, painting nice wooden floors, painting brick walls...do things that are undoable.

Sometime they have nice ideas, but overall I'd rather not live in any of the rooms they design.

Everything you do continues long after you've gone

I've heard this girl on the radio and she had agreed with her friend to decorate eachother's rooms. She herself had done a great job with her friend's, but was absolutely not satisfied with what she got in return. She said: what have you done? This is in pastel colours and you know i hate those!!

This always happens in shows like these. You mention something not to be touched or something else they really shouldn't do and what do you know!

You think that because it's a good friend decorating it for you, that you'll like it, but in the end, they have little to say. The designer decides everything, the people can't change much.

Just now, the designer put trees and a grass bench in the bedroom. How long do you that'll last?

Urgh. They have this show in Britain and it's exactly the same over here as well. The worst thing is one of the designers. His name is Laurence Llwelyen-Bowen.

I'll let you judge for yourself if you think this guy has any sense of style or taste when it comes to decorating rooms!

Frey, it's the British show I'm talking about. We have BBC here. That Laurence guy loves anything gothic, I noticed. He's the worst of them all.

We have a Belgian version as well and in general I like their designs better. They're usually a lot more modern, more my style and they seem to respect the owner's wishes more. But they'd still paint stuff the owners specifically asked not to touch.

Oh right! Sorry

There was a programme once about Changing Rooms from different countries, and it's interesting how they do almost the same sort of thing everywhere!

I love this show! I watch it every morning before I go to work.

There's an "American" version called Trading Spaces, but I like the original better. You think some of the British designers do horrible things, you should see what some of the American designers do! In one episode, a designer covered a bedroom wall in live moss!

lol at the picture of Lawrence Llwelyen-Bowen! Where did you find that?

It's from http://www.bbc.co.uk/tv/ if you really want to find more pictures of Mr L-B!

I like the designer Linda Barker. She's mad!

WILL LAURENCE LLEWELLYN BOWEN USE SOMETHING BLOODY ELSE THAN MDF? STUPID FRILLY CUFFED TWAT... WHEN I USED TO WORK AT FOCUS, WE SOLD HIS RANGE OF WALLPAPER AND WHEN I HAD TO DO THE WALLPAPER AISLES I HAD TO LOOK AT HIS STUPID GODDAM FACE WITH THE QUOTE "THEY ASKED ME TO PUT SOME DESIGNS DOWN ON PAPER, SO I DID"... NO WONDER I LEFT

"Oh we'll rip out this welsh dresser from the 18th century and replace witH some MDF monstrosity".

Dunno if anyone ever saw that show of "The Adam and Joe Show" when they advertised in a newspaper for people to have a room in their houses re-done for a Channel 4 show "Room for Change", they went round to this blokes cottage and ruined his dining room. That was absolutely hilarious.
