Suzuki worst of the worst
By KEN GIBSON
MOTORING guru Jeremy Clarkson yesterday named the Suzuki X-90 the worst car EVER
It tops the list of the Top Gear presenter and Sun columnist’s Fifty Worst Cars of All Time.
He slams the two-seater Suzuki as being “a boggle-eyed mongrel and a car with unparalleled naffness”.
Clarkson’s 50 duff drives include predictable models such as the Austin Allegro at No19, the four-wheeled Reliant Kitten (4), the Skoda Rapide Cabriolet (32), the FSO Polonez (29) and the Austin Princess (44).
But there are also surprises with the big-selling Porsche Cayenne SUV at No18. Clarkson says its looks “should scare small children.”
Another smash-hit car that makes the chart at 40 is the Peugeot 206 Coupé Cabriolet, which he slams for poor quality.
He says: “The roof’s lack of a rain gutter means you get drenched if you open the door in a downpour.”
Another new model that gets hammered is Ford’s Fusion (17) — “a half-arsed attempt by Ford to con us with a Fiesta Estate,” he says.
The list, in Top Gear magazine, includes best-sellers such as the Ford Escort Mk4 at 38 and the Morris Ital at 39.
My word, there are some truly DREADFUL motors in that list.
I remember some chav from back home who rode around in a souped up, pristine white Skoda Rapide, thinking he was dead hard, he just looked like a complete, complete fool.
Mate of mine once purchased a Vauxhall Frontera, he was unsure about its handling when he took it for a test drive, but bought it anyway cos he "wanted a 4x4". After a week he began the thankless task of actually trying to sell this dire beast which nearly toppled over when he was going round a sharp bend.
Saw an old couple in a Reliant Kitten the other day at Safeway petrol station, it looks even more ridiculous than the 3 wheeled version!
And of course, the FSO Polonez... oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
