AT 7:05 Eastern USA time the 2 ladies matches will be switched to indoors and should be starting before 7:30 pm. ESPN will not televise the match since it was switched to indoors. Espn 2 is waiting for the rain to stop so they can show the men's Semi's. Meanwhile they are showing the McEnroe vs Borg from 1981 right now. ESPN 2 was originally going to show both ladies matches today, but Mother Nature intervened.
I guess ESPN2 wants to keep their equipment here for tomorrow, lol. The players don't have to worry about the size of the crowd indoors since the sport is run by sponsors. Only the Majors can actually pay the players prizes. I just hope Caroline can find a way to win.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Pilot Pen tennis tournament officials have decided to move the women's semifinals to indoor courts on the Yale University campus.
A steady rain led officials to cancel the daytime session, which was to have been played at the 15,000-seat Connecticut tennis center. They will instead be held at the newly renovated Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center, which has almost no fan seating.
The match between Flavia Pennetta and Caroline Wozniacki is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on one court, with the match between Amelie Mauresmo and Elena Vesnina starting a short time later on another.
ATP officials have not said what they plan to do about the men's semifinals.
