The situation's looking pretty dire on my end. I'm the US, so that means no access to the betting sites or Wimbledon Live. ESPN360 only works with certain Internet providers -- Time Warner (which I'm on) is not among them. NBC apparently doesn't start its streams until Saturday. Unless an unofficial alternative pops up, I'm left in the dark. By gobbling up exclusive online rights in the States and putting weird restrictions on their site, ESPN has essentially shut a bunch of us out and sent us back to the 20th Century.
After being spoiled by the great service Mediazone provided for the last three years (9 courts of live streams that worked; high quality on-demand downloads), I can't believe I'm gonna be limited to ESPN's unspeakably horrible TV coverage. "Look, there's Andy Roddick practicing! Wow, footage of Andy walking around the grounds! Let's spend the next 45 minutes analyzing Andy's draw!" Chris Fowler and Sue Mott thumbing through tabloids is not my idea of tennis coverage.
The daily order of play, with all the matches I'd gladly pay to watch but now can't, just makes me sad. Wimbledon without live streaming is like Christmas without presents.
