Re: Main draw doubles

I suppose the Groenefeld/King combination (Anna´s 2nd choice to Patty Schnyder for 2008) was split this time due to the circumstances in Dubai.

Re: Main draw doubles

Me personally Id have loved to see Li in doubles also, but maybe not after the injury. Id have imagined Groenefeld/King and Zheng/Li.

I suppose that compared to 2 years ago Peer is in a slump and ALG did some good things lately in doubles.

want Groenefeld to return to King somewhen. But not if Patty is present.

Re: Main draw doubles

Peer/Groenefeld vs Benesova/Strycova?

Iveta vs Shahar in Singles.
Barbora vs ALG in Singles.

How weird.

Re: Main draw doubles

Omg, this V.King is getting on my nerves. All she does is picking some super dubz players all the time and milking them for titles or well it kinda seems this way. I dont know how she gets them. Cause well, she really is not that big super doubles player everyone would want to partner, but ya, she's decent at doubles and thats about it.

Sharapova, Jankovic, Zvonareva !
Kirilenko, Vesnina, Dokic, Bacsinszky, Jovanovski, Pironkova

Re: Main draw doubles

^Well, she is #28 in doubles

She is very established in doubles, but I must admit that I was very surprised to see her with Zheng. I might be wrong about this, but I think she is of Chinese descent

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.

Re: Main draw doubles

I would say that Vania is a lot more than just a decent doubles player. I think she is very good

It's not as if Jie was leagues above Vania anyway Their rankings are almost the same.

Both her parents speak chinese. (I made a mistake. Only her brother was born in Taiwan)

She's close to Taiwanese and Chinese players eventhough she doesn't really speak chinese well. She partnered with Sun, Chuang, Hsieh, Yan, Peng... and had pretty good results. And now Zheng, they have a good chance to win here I suppose.
