Sharapova was very, very good yesterday. To be honest I don't think that Caro had a chance. But it's been awhile since I've been so happy with Caro's overall play in a tournament. She's really done us proud.
This is all how I feel. I do think Caroline is getting that consistency back given that her last three tournaments she made at least the qfs or better. I do have more faith that trend will continue in Miami.

Edit: I know she lost early in Malaysia but let's just ignore that shall we?

No change to Caro's #9 seed spot then. Vika WD .. for now .. just an unfounded rumour. Shame. The #5 spot was better.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

I thought her effort level was excellent in Dubai, and IW.
I would give her 'A-' for both. Not an 'A' because she was up a break in set 2 in Dubai, and the last 2 points were awful at such a crucial moment, when it could have been 5-all in set 2.
At IW, beating a YEC player is great, but she has to be ready for her best in big finals. She came out and made an unforced error, was broken at love. Then they both held twice, and Caro missed the overhead at 3-2 15-all Maria serving. 2nd set she had ads for 3-4. Those are important points that could keep the match close.
But 'A-" is very good, and Miami is a very difficult draw, lets see how she does. Its possible Li and Serena are the best players in the draw, but lets see how it develops

Playing Sharapova in a big final should be good for Caroline. Maria hasnt won a final since the FO, and she was taking that very seriously.
Caro's team should study that whole match, because thats the level multiple slam winners play at, in big matches

Here between I/W and Miami, Caro has an exho in Canada, right?

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

A couple things popped into my head as the day wound down: First,Caroline didn't overextend herself with that ad campaign;in other words, she didn't make a mockery of herself by trying to be TOO sexy, yet her hotness shone through.Second,Caroline isn't known for wearing scant clothes;i.e.,she doesn't constantly pose that way,so it's a strong case of 'less is more'.Because the world doesn't see as much of 'sexy Caro',it's more special when we DO see her that way

Mr. Goose (had to say it): I agree with what you wrote. In my ancient eyes, I think Caroline is the most all around attractive woman playing tennis. Many of those from especially Eastern European countries have an exotic kind of beauty which is also very attractive for many reasons. My first true jobs were in Southeast Asia, and school afterward in Hawaii, all veritable paradises of exotic beautiful women of a different kind, but not a lot of tennis players. Still, I think Caroline is the beauty of my eyes. Her father, not that I care, is a very handsome man. Her mother has probably not aged well. Genes tell the story for Caroline.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Caro was in 4 slam semis. The one that she won was against Wickmayer, which is like Vika playing Stephens. If you make a lot of semis, you'll get a soft opponent once in a while.
But for Caro to win majors, her serving in those final matches has to be better. She was only a few points from being on serve in both sets vs Maria.
But those few points are usually the difference in these matches.
Miami is had to figure because Li was tremendous at AO beating Aga & Maria. So that could be a brutal round. Or she might not be ready yet.
Funny how maybe Caro's best serving day was in 2012, the win over Serena

Really? Anna must be .... mid 40s or so. I think she looks good for her age.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Even if we ignore lack of aggression on groundstrokes,it could be argued that Caroline would've had a better chance at some easy points in her deeper Slam runs if she'd had a better serve at her disposal
