Just had a look at the highlights and yes - some of Caro's 1st serves looked without any pace. I hope she can get a good 1st serve percentage in and have a bit more bite to them for her match today. One of the things with Vika - she is so good on ROS and as you say - Vika will be able to take advantage of weak 1st serves.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Well Vika withdrew. And Tennis Channel showed footage of her practice and she was clearly hurt.

So odd that Caro and Kerber made the semis via withdrawls.

Hehe, yeah. She is like 'the boy crying wolf' ... Of course she has real injuries, it's just all the other times, makes it hard to take the real times serious.

Not necessarily. It was so ridiculous a story that it MUST be true. But it's not the type of injury that makes a player lose credibility in my opinion. It's how often it happens that's the problem. Not that I'm saying that Vika is faking all these injuries, but some play if possible through their injuries and others don't. Vika is obviously one of the latter.

Hard to say. She hasn't dropped a set yet but she hasn't faced any quality opponents, either. The highest ranked opponent was Wickmayer and we know how hit-and-miss she is. Kerber gave a breadstick in set 1, fell behind a double break in set 2 but ended up taking it in a TB.
She lost the most games against Muguruza - 4 & 5 - but I've no idea how good or bad that qualifier was playing.
My gut tells me that Kerber still isn't quite 100% after her back problems but it's just a feeling.

Madison Brengle: "I'd rather chew on a pinecone than play this match (against Wozniacki)."
Nicole Melichar: "Do you want me to go find you one?"

Here's what I don't get why anyone gets upset over the number of withdrawls Vika or whoever makes? They don't benefit at all because now they can't win the tournament. It's an advantage for their opponent, not for them.

Anyway, I would love for Caro to beat Kerber. Seriously, she needs to get some revenge. Of course she also needs her A game to get that revenge but I feel good about her chances.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

I didn't hear what she said about having a bad pedicure. It may be that she has an ingrown toenail and the treatment for it didn't go well. Ingrown toenails can be debilitating at times, and the treatments for them can hurt.

That said, go Caroline.

Disappointing news. I've been looking forward to this match. Good for Caro in a way, less so for Vika. And I can go to bed early...

Well that sucks.

It seems like this matchup is kind of cursed.

I felt a lot more confident going into 2011's match than I did about today's would be match (if Vika were to have been able to play).

Captain Matthew Gideon: I may have an idea.
Dureena Nafeel: I don't think you've recovered from your last good idea.
Captain Matthew Gideon: That would explain it.

Considering her history, her injuries often seem to be a bit shady. I don't watch her matches but I haven't heard about her taking MTO during the tournament so...
