I don't think Caro will be tired for the Kvitova match. She was on court barely two hours combined for her first two matches, so with just one tough match in the legs and her great fitness level, I think she'll be well recovered come SF time.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

I think there is physical wear and tear in long matches. Mentally its tough also.
I think thats a big part of the reason Caro slumped. Her mind just couldnt focus like she used to.
She was broken a lot by Bartoli, and she has to hold her serve to win this, unless Petra has a really off day

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

It seems the list of seeds for BMW Malaysian Open next week will be someting like

1. Caro (#10)
2. Hsieh (#25)
3. Pavlyuchenkova (#29)
4. Morita (#55)
5. Hantuchova (#67)
6. Doi (#82)
7. Vekic (#91)
8. Danilidou (#94)

Not a very impressive field but I hope Caro will get the chance to beat Pavly, there's a Cincinatti loss needs righting.

you can safetly say it's a crap tournament...but yes, she definitely needs to beat Pavly and the whole thing...but first let's take down Petra

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

If she can win today, she can win 2 titles in a row before IW.
This is a big match because Caro can head into IW with some momentum if she can win here
Easy to see she is playing more consistently, a QF and a SF. Now a chance for a quality win at a Premier

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Agree with those who posted that Caroline will probably need to maintain strong form to win today. If she DOES lose, then I really hope that it won't be too much of a mental/psychological setback for her...and that she can still build off of some of the steps forward that she's taken..........back to the match now

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

I thought Caroline played very well today. The last 2 points were a bit weak, but I'm guessing that long match with Bartoli had an effect.

Still a chance Caro can get back in the mix at the top, at least at hardcourt events.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

congrats Petra, played the best in two years I guess...she was just too good and everything worked to her favour, she hit so many lines and whenever she needed the 2nd serve was havier than the first serve.

Huge credits to Caroline, if she can play like this on a more continuous way she'll be back high in the ranking, but she really needs to start winning those sets when she plays better (like in the second).

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.

8 winners and 14 unforced errors is playing very well?

So Caro's fitness is such that one tough match has a huge impact on the next match?

Getting routined by Kvitova does not say back in the mix to me.

Dureena Nafeel: I don't think you've recovered from your last good idea.

Of course it is disappointing that she lost but just getting to quarters/semis at premier 5's is an improvement. If she can keep this up it is likely that she will make some finals which would be another improvement.

Better being routined by Kvitova than losing in early rounds to Pervak.
The last 2 weeks she lost to Aga & Petra. I didnt like losing from 5-3 to Aga. This was better, to me, and she can beat most of the tour playing like this.
To beat YEC players, she has to play some of the big points better. She just missed on some of them

Caroline doesnt win hitting a lot of winners. If she can keep rallies going, hit some deep shots, go up the line with her backhand, force her opponents to play well for 3 hours, thats how she wins.

She needs to keep getting thru draws to the YEC players. You want the other players to NOT want your name in their section of the draw

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

yeah for me it was a real mixture of feelings out there today. So proud that she could step up her game at times to hang on against a challenging opponent but again disappointing that the foot still seems to come off slightly when she gets ahead like 3-2 in the 2nd or on many game/break points. She is improving though. Last week against Aga was horrible but I thought today she had a shot at pulling out that second set which is encouraging and frustrating at the same time since she didn't. Overall, I'm happy she made the semi's and think she will have a much better season. I just want her to win everything though so maybe that's my issue

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

and if I may add one more thing on a positive note...yesterday's performance against Bartoli was great and such a wonderful turnaround compared to so many losses we've seen over the past year and a half. And she worked so hard today as well.
So I just wanted to say THANK YOU CARO for being such a great competitor!

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Missed the match, had to leave at 3-4 first set. Petra was painting the lines so I thought Caro was weathering the storm well when I left. One break down but managing to stay in it and having chances.
But again, I guess she missed her few BP and probably some 40-15 games on serve. I didn't expect her to win, Petra is tough for her and she had a good practice yesterday against Aga.
SF is a good result but I feel she needs to start winning those big matches again soon or she will get discouraged.

Now, she should win with ease in KL.

Petra handled Aga pretty easily yesterday(and,at times, overpowered Serena in her last tourney),so could you be more specific on what, exactly, you expected from Caroline??Nothing less than a win??Hitting 14 UEs in a match with 19 games averages out to less than .7 UEs per game....I wouldn't call that a huge number even for a counterpuncher who rarely swings wildly away.Even FIT players are sometimes in less than peak form after a long 3-setter the previous day. That shouldn't be news to you,and it's not as if Caroline was huffing and puffing out there like a couple of her out-of-shape Adidas comrades would've been.

Are we supposed to count winners now as the primary barometer of Caroline's play??I'm all in favor of Caroline's being capable of ending points quickly with attacking shots but,if you're expecting her to lead the tourney winners counts, then you'll probably be disappointed and would be better off supporting a BBB
