Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

^ Hmmm and when exactly is there room in the WTA/ATP calendar to play this League? ATP finals are in November ... I can understand why Roger Federer is not interested.

Without WTA / ATP backing, I'll buy a beer to everyone on TF, if this comes off the ground ..

It's meant to be in December. This sort of thing is just bad for tennis tbh. It's first to 5 games (tiebreak at 5-5 I think), no ad scoring, basically it's a load of crap. It's a glorified exhibition trying to pass itself as real tennis. The bad news is they are trying to get ITF approval, and their plans long term are just bad. They want to expand this format into the tennis season, to make it extremely TV orientated etc. I for one really hope they do not go down this road. If the players want to play more tennis, extend the seasons, the WTA calendar could do with having a couple of weeks added to it anyway. This is hardly going to be great preparation for Australia anyway, jetting around every Asian country to play fixtures in this league 6 weeks before.

The stuff from Federer in that article is very different to what was reported elsewhere months ago. They reported Federer couldn't commit because he's committed to something like 3 years of exhibitions in South America at the same time and it would clash. Federer always plays lots of exhibitions, so I imagine if he was available he would be willing to play this, especially as he comes into the twilight of his career, it would probably benefit his brand.

Caroline Wozniacki, along with a number of other tennis stars have been invited to participate in the new international Premier League.
A new tennis tournament - The International Premier Tennis League - looks by all accounts, unveiled in December 2014.
And it gets Danish participation!

In any case, Caroline Wozniacki and a number of other top names like Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka declared their interest to participate.

Among the very best only missing commitment from Swiss player Roger Federer.
- I think that the tennis season is long enough already. That Is why I did not commit, he says.
Caroline Wozniacki 's Danish consultant Mikkel Nissen confirms her interest.
- It is true that Caroline was asked if she would like to attend. But when the tournament is only in a sketch state, I can not comment further, he says.

The idea for the tournament is fostered by the Indian doubles specialist Mahesh Bhupati.
- We intend to create NBA atmosphere with music and the chance to sponsors can provide local entertainment around the fighting, says Mahesh Bhupati to the magazine Sports Business International, adding:
- It is planned that sponsors buy players for six Asian metropolises and teams must play all against all.
It is not yet determined what cities are. However, according to Sports Business International is among other Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, Dubai, Calcutta and Jakarta in the picture.

If Mahesh Bhupatis dream comes true the teams wil set at next year's Australian Open. Here, the sponsors of the best NBA shape could buy the players on an open auction.

Yet, neither the WTA or ATP commented on whether they think that the idea fits with their interests.

So still on gossip state - but interesting IMHO
There's supposed to be a lot of money in this exo series. I hope they pay the players who arent stars.
But I think it will work, because there is a a lot of money behind it

Well, I'm sure that all of the lovely, horny German gals in Maria's fanbase who crave breathtaking Latino kisses would take it as a tribute to their fave's greatness if Caro and other players began seeking her ex-coach for guidance, but there's just one problem that I can envision with that.

Hopefully Maria won't be upset that I revealed this in open forum but, as I was towelling her off after an extended, pleasant stint in the jacuzzi, she confessed to me that Hogstedt didn't wanna travel as much anymore, and some of us Caro fans are concerned that she might need more than just part-time coaching as she looks to regain her old form.......Oh, and thanks for stopping by

I wouldn't necessarily believe the statement that Hogstedt doesn't want to travel anymore (this has been brought up by a couple of people). That statement was released by Sharapova, it's likely it's a cover up for the real reason behind their break up.

Well thought out I think too. You don't get Jimmy Connors just like that with a snap - no it's been planned. And Hoegstedt not wanting to travel so much FOR THE MOMENT - let's say this moment goes until november (or even shorter) then he's ready for Caroline

I thought I had already laid into this idea on another thread here (Womens Tennis in General maybe). The worst thing will be if this actually gets sanctioned by the ITF and is recognised as actual proper tennis. Because it's destined to be full of sandbagging, tanks, fixing, general half-arsing etc. That and the format is so high in variance that it's not going to be very reflective of anything.

Yes, I'll freely admit that it was just hearsay in re Hogstedt's supposed unwillingness to travel, and you surely deduced that I was just joking......Masha and I didn't discuss her ex-coach AT ALL during our time together in the jacuzzi. More relevantly to Caroline, she's a smart gal who might not need full-time coaching to translate her work in practice into solid matchplay.Tbh, though, I'm probably not the best prognosticator when it comes to a player's coaching needs

Caroline Wozniacki has been free from the injury she suffered at Wimbledon. The worries whether the Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki is ready for the August hardcourt tournaments in the United States, can be put aside

- The injury she suffered at Wimbledon (v Petra Cetkovska, ed.) Has fortunately proved not to be serious. There was 'only' a pulled Achilles tendon. Therefore, she can train again from next week, says her Danish consultant Mikkel Nissen.

If it goes according to plan, Caroline Wozniacki will be back on the WTA tour when Rogers Cup is played in Canadian Toronto from 5 August.
Good to hear this. So the first obstacle problem looks like it's all going to plan. All we need from you now Caro is to play better and win your matches like in the good days.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Agree with those of you who posted that the planned Dec. shindig probably wouldn't be beneficial to Caroline. I respect any well-thought strategies for fan outreach, but this whole thing almost smacks of extreme overeagerness

Looks like business as usual heading to hardcourt. So lets see if she can get back to Dubai/IW form

Caro is going to Vegas to train. Cronin put out a tweet (now deleted) that he clearly meant to sent to Sven Groeneveld. It detailed that Caro, Ana, Puig, Robson and Cirstea are heading to Vegas for a training block with him.
