Tough for me to say. Serena, Petra and Sabine for certain, after that it gets a bit tricky. Agnieszka has had great results at Wimbledon the last two years but she is more of a hardcourt player. Pironkova is a player who is at her best on grass but is she top five? Probably not.

It's probably fair to say that after Serena, Petra and Sabine there is a dropoff.

I can't believe that you have time to post...what with the Belgian Ice Hockey Bundesliga playoffs(...or however you say 'Bundesliga' in Flemish) going on.

Sorry for going off topic, folks, but I'd also count improved volleying skills as a worthier goal for Caroline than barely sneaking into YEC is

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

I personally wouldn't have Bartoli in top 5. Winning a grand slam doesn't instantly shoot you to the top of a surface's rankings. I am basing my rankings on would I expect x player to beat any of those I have above them on any given day, and Bartoli I can think of at least 5 I wouldn't.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

She probably is doing better physically.
This will be an interesting hardcourt year.
Coming off a first round loss at the US Open after F, SF, SF
I have no idea what to expect. Good results like Dubai/IW or early losses like the 9 tournaments after?

Right now?
1. Serena
2. Azarenka=Sharapova
4. Kvitova
5. Lisicki
6. Radwanska
7. Li
8. Bartoli
Maybe.

Judging future players is pretty tough. For starters a number of those will be competing with the players just slightly younger than them like Bencic and Konjuh. Secondly judging on talent doesn't tell you who will actually be the best of them, who will work the hardest, who is the most determined to reach the top, those are factors that are near impossible to judge. In general I think the game will move further towards power players who can also move, movement being the key for a lot of these.

Sharapova looks way too high at =#2 in your list. Her record going back to 2007 is pretty poor apart from 2011 when she faced Petra in the final. Apart from that - then from 2007 onwards - she hasn't even even made the quarter finals at Wimbledon. Yet you have her at #2? Of course - if you go back before then she was good and got two SFs and a won the title. But that was a long time ago.

Caroline Wozniacki

Chris Evert, Steffi Graf, Kim Clijsters

Her record is average at Wimbledon recently but I think there's been a degree of misfortune. I am tending to ignoring results from years ago, because not only has the opposition and players levels changed, but in the case of Sharapova she was recovering from a multitude of injuries. You also have omitted that she achieved an Olympic silver medal on grass last year.

At the end of the day though as I said I am picking the list on a basis like this. If I had to place $100 on one player at evens, who would I pick, and I would still pick Sharapova over everyone of those players below her every single time right now.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Those lists are impossible. You could do it based on results or on who you think might win Wimbledon in the future.
Even though Azarenka never made the final here, I think she has a great chance to win it. If I was betting which player will win Wimbledon in the next 3 years, and equal odds on everyone, after Serena, I'd probably bet Vika or Petra.
So its 2 different lists
