Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Am a little bit torn amidst all of the YEC chat, as there's a part of me that always yearns for Caroline to set her standards high and reach, or even surpass, them.

On the other hand, setting unrealistic goals can sometimes distract folks from focusing on immediate, more pressing needs.Perhaps Caro should focus on some simpler things, for the time being.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

apparently Ivanovic parted from full-time coach Nigel Sears, same for Bouchard and Antonio Van Grichen...may one of them be Caro's next?

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.

They said, the two wanted trainers were both unavailable until the end of season.

If one of those are indeed the wanted one, there shouldn't be any hindrance why he couldn't step in already now (bar a non-compete contract clause, but I don't think they are common in tennis (?) ).

Even with Turkish Airlines as a sponsor, they cant help her win matches. She has to get her level higher.

Is she still with Turkish airlines?? I thought she wasn't anymore because I didn't see the ad anymore. Why don't she just use Rory's Private Jet?? (Does he have one??)

Nothing to see here.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

One good thing about Caro's career is that she had no brutal loss at a major. When she had a chance against Li, Kim was in the final. When Caro made her final, Kim was also in that final.
Aga is 7-0 against Bartoli, and was up 3-0 in the 3rd in her SF with Lisicki. That was a tough way to lose at a major.

Well, we know that Sears must have the patience of the biblical figure,Job, but I don't think that Caro would deliberately test him that much

If only Caro hired Nigel Sears. I think that he would be brilliant as her coach. He seems to be a pretty relaxed, smart guy who is very supportive on the court. I think the could have a very good working relationship. If I was at Caro's place I'd definitely consider taking him on board. Maybe people from Adidas know him and will recommend him, too. Funnily enough Antonio Van Grichen used to be Ivanovic's coach, too. Oh well, it is obvious that Ana just cannot work with anyone these days and cannot achieve success no matter who coaches her but that's for another forum...

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

This coaching decision is very important. Think back to IW 2011. The players Caro beat the last 2 rounds, Sharapova & Bartoli, are in the last 2 slam finals. Caro used to beat Aga all the time.
Now her career is in trouble. Caro has to be very careful about coaches who want to change her style of play or technique. Now she seems lost between too safe or too erratic.
This is a big decision

You were right in re that post you made "somewhere else"; if it hadn't been for Nigel, things would've been MUCH worse.I'll bet you that Nigel would get a solid serving coach for Caro.........if he didn't feel that he could do the job himself, of course

I think this way is easier for Caro, where she can set her own schedule, add Charleston because its near The Masters, etc..
But Sharapova & Bartoli got rid of their dads and had success. So you never know.
To me, she's accepting where she is too easily. I thought last year when she lost #1 she would really fight, but she hung around with Rory then lost to Safarova, to Goerges, then got blown off the court at her best Tier I tournament, IW, by Ivanovic. So I dont know. Lets see what this hardcourt summer brings. But if its not a resurgence, she should consider a coach
