Who else thinks Caro will lose tomorrow and this board will go into meltdown mode at her wasting yet another easy draw?

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

I dont expect much on grass, so a loss round 2 or 3 is almost expected.
We'll see where she is on hardcourt. More losses to Pervak o& Muguruza, or more fighting like IW? probably a mix

Caroline into Wimbledon R2 !

Not impressed by Caroline. Cabeza is such a weak player. Very easy to beat

Have a bad feeling. I can see Caroline crashing out to Cetkovska in R2

Serena: "We have great personalities like Jelena (Jankovic) on the tour."
Jelena: "If I had to pick someone after me, I'd pick Serena."

Good Luck

Watch the New haven 2011 F Caro beat her then and convincingly too 6-4 6-1 so I'm saying nothing or making a prediction because I swear I'm bad luck or something.

Nothing to see here.

I've reached the point where I expect Caro to lose to everyone..
With that being said, however, I can see her coming through tomorrow. She can extend rallies against Cetkovska better than Vekic could. Hopefully Caro's game can frustrate Cetkovska enough that she becomes super impatient and goes full-on ball basher mode. Caro will need to be on top of her game to have any kind of chance, of course.

Let's try and be positive until she loses, may it be tomorrow, R3 or next week! Then we can mourn, at least we didn't get a heartbreaking R1 loss this year, yay!

Caro's matches are really difficult to predict these days...it should be a tough one, Cetkovska apparently played amazing in R1 and already did great in qualifying. That said, Caro is coming from beating 3 good grass players and almost beating another, so I think it will come down to who plays better at the right time (game points, break points, start of sets...).

She typically doesn't even get to the top players these days.

Maybe her form from then wouldn't be good enough to beat the top players, maybe it would. It's speculation as Caro doesn't play that way on the occasion that she does meet top players these days.

I think using the way she was was playing when she was playing the best tennis of career as a template to build on/tinker with (not radically modify) is a good idea.

Captain Matthew Gideon: I may have an idea.
Dureena Nafeel: I don't think you've recovered from your last good idea.
Captain Matthew Gideon: That would explain it.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

The way the sport is now, a lot of players peak after 25.
So its not even a big deal that she's been struggling the last 2 years.
I think she didnt have many chances for a major. Her opportunities were in Australia the last 3 years, and even if she was good, maybe Kim then Vika would have beaten her anyway those years.
She has to stabilize a long term routine.
Not burn out with crazy practice schedules. Not panic.
She's definately better on hardcourt and the majors & premiers on hardcourt have to be her focus.
And she has to use her skillset again, which she went away from. Build on what she does best.
She needs a coach who doesnt want to make big changes but improve on what her strengths are.

The more I think about what happened, its a minor blip on her career if she can get some consistency on hardcourt over the years

Forgive me if I'm misquoting you because I might be thinking of other posters' comments instead, but haven't you previously posted that Caroline didn't necessarily have all that much time because of the heavy amount of match play that she's had in her early years?I thought that you'd made some other posts that we shouldn't assume that Caro will be around 'til she's 30 as some veterans have been.

Keep in mind that I'm not criticizing the post above in any way, nor am I accusing you of doublespeak. As fans,we're certainly entitled to change our minds about players' prospects.I'm just wondering--IF my recollection is correct and you DID make those aforementioned posts--what was it that persuaded you that Caro might find success in her veteran years if she doesn't find it within the next couple seasons??

Of course there is a flip side to that. How many players accomplish what Caroline did at a (relatively) young age, fall off like she did and then regain their former form? I can't think of any. Maybe Capriati? Regardless it is rare, especially since Caroline never suffered any major injuries. The way that her game declined is hard to fathom but it was largely a self-inflicted wound.

When you say a lot of players peak after 25 I am guessing that you are thinking of players like Schiavone, Stosur, Li and Zvonareva? If so I would argue that those players are all very different than Caroline. None of them were top five (I think, someone correct me if I am wrong) before their success in the last few years. When they peaked late in their careers that was the best they had ever played. With Caroline she already reached her peak two-three years ago. It is extremely difficult to reach that level once, doing it a second time may be expecting too much.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

I'm looking at the sport in general. people are acting like Robson did something.
Laura just lost to Caro twice then beat a player who is all bandaged up & had just lost to Wickmayer.
I do think Caro made huge mistakes and gave 2 years away.
But if she kept up what she was doing she might have overplayed so severely she would be injured like Safina, or totally burned out.

I think Azarenka was smart. If you look at 2011, the softest major was the AO, where Caro was a point from the final & that final wasnt well played.
So being ready for AO 2012 was smart. Kim wasnt that good in 2012, so Vika had a great draw to the QF, beat Aga, beat Kim (who could have lost to Li), then won the final.
That was smart, and even if Caro was in 2011 form, maybe Vika beat her.
2013 AO was a joke where Vika got very lucky. If Caro could play like 2010-2011, she will also have a lucky major or 2.
But Caro should be thinking about long term and hardcourt

Me too! And I hope that if someone is bashing Caroline in another forum, that someone like neverforget sticks up for her, like he's doing for Ana in this subforum

we can't be hard on her today, she really tried everything, it didn't look too nasty for the whole season, but there was nothing she could do today...it's a shame for the spectacle too, because the way both girls were playing it could have been a wimbledon best...

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.
