Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

When does the Rome draw come out?

I think Caro could use some opponents who are clay court clowns in poor form and who also rarely if ever upset high ranked players.

Captain Matthew Gideon: I may have an idea.
Dureena Nafeel: I don't think you've recovered from your last good idea.
Captain Matthew Gideon: That would explain it.

^ .. I am afraid to even suggest a single name, fearful Caro might just draw that player ... and lose in straights ...

It would also be helpful if her opponents suffered from broken legs, blindness and severe carpal tunnel syndrome which prevented them from being able to hold a tennis racquet.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Its too bad because she has good clay results. She was a Madrid, Stuttgart finalist & Rome SF, won Brussels. Not easy to compile those results. But she's not into competing for these matches for over a month now and counting

Well, the least we can expect of her is that she'll be super motivated this time. If she loses, so be-it, but not without putting up a fight up until and including the last point. If she just gives up like we've seen recently there's really no hope. If she shows us some passion and fights as hard as she can there IS hope even if she should lose. More than anything else our girl has to show that she cares and wants to compete.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

She is still young enough that anything can happen the next few years.
But she went from a player who always tried hard, and was very successful. Around 80% semifinals over about 12 months.
Its amazing how she either doesnt compete, or plays such a low percentage game now.
The old fight, that she had every tournament, is gone.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Yes,I know that some of the on-court results have been a bit ugly lately, but is Caroline really that shameful compared to say,Vaidisova,or some athletes that you've seen in other sports??

Honestly, how frustrated would YOU feel if the person you'd gone to,from the start, for answers suddenly ran out of them??I can even empathize with Caroline to a small extent.Yes,I and most of us are aware that Piotr isn't some control freak who rejects any outside input....but how strenuously has he REALLY tried to get regular service coaching for Caro...or other input?I read where Graf and Agassi were volunteering their help to Adidas for certain periods of time.Has Piotr made ANy effort to get Graf's help?Yeah,yeah,yeah...different styles of play,blah,blah,blah...yet I refuse to believe that Steffi is worthless as an advisor to anyone who doesn't imitate her playing style. At the very least, she could offer a fresh perspective--perhaps even recommend a coach--that Caro would respect.....Should I dare to hope?

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Vaidisova comparison is good. Can Caroline accept that this is her level now? Probably frustrating for her, just like its frustrating for her fans.
But it is what it is. She lost 4 of her last 5 matches. Prospects are not good for the next few months.
Vaidisova ddint enjoy it enough, and the players have the option to retire.

Caro drew Jovanovski. To play winner of Jankovic vs Pironkova. You won't get many better draws than that R1.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Thats a soft section, although Jankovic is probably the best clay player among the 4.
But a chance to win a match is there.
Jankovic is a lot like Wozniacki. You have to accept where you are and make realistic strides forward. That is what Jelena is trying to do now

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

She can possibly make the 3rd round against Li if she plays to the best of her ability. Jovanoski isn't a good clay courter. Jelena isn't going to hit her off the court.

A few years ago we discussed her chances of winning almost whatever tournament she entered. Now we would celebrate if she would just win a match. How the mighty have fallen.
