I think that neither Caro or Rory for that matter used their offseason well last year.
Big difference is that Rory finished 2012 as #1 and won a major.
Caroline had a disaster of a year in 2012. That she didnt use that offseason to be ready for a run at the top 3 in 2013 says a lot.

I thought she would at worst continue her last 5 tournaments of 2012, 3 finals, 2 titles and losses to Kerber & Aga. Beat Li & Stosur.

Sharapova, Azarenka and Serena all started 2013 ready to go. Caro started being up a set to Pervak then losing, with her dad calling her a clown.
To me, her career was on the line. Its important to get back in the mix at the top, if you possibly can.
What are you doing in the offseason that brings down your game? Whats that whole adidas team doing?

Vinci and Navarro are NOT better than Caroline on indoor clay

The clay indoors is faster than red clay outdoors. Caroline feels comfortable in Stuttgart on this surface. Remember she reached Stuttgart final.

BTW Vinci and Navarro are totally overranked players. They will never be #1 like Caroline. She is a million times better than both of them together.

There is no excuse if Caroline doesn`t reach QF here. She is seeded to reach QF and got a soft draw with no Jankovic, Ivanovic, Petkovic or Barthel.

Serena: "We have great personalities like Jelena (Jankovic) on the tour."
Jelena: "If I had to pick someone after me, I'd pick Serena."

Good Luck

I read on twitter that Caro is coming to Denmark on July 9 to meet her fans:

Captain Matthew Gideon: I may have an idea.
Dureena Nafeel: I don't think you've recovered from your last good idea.
Captain Matthew Gideon: That would explain it.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

That's true but then again she screwed up an easy final in Charleston , the days Woz was the most consistent player on tour are long gone and so far no signs of that changing.

Anyone knows if she plays tomorrow?

I feel the same (that improving her game should be her priority) but she didn't show much, if any, improvement after 2010, 2011 and 2012. It doesn't seem likely things will be different after 2013. She seems very focused on her fitness.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Is she focused on fitness? After the awful January she said she's motivated again. But she still loses to Muguruza & Voegele.
I dont know what it is, except that she cant focus the way she used to anymore. It comes and goes.

She isn't losing because her fitness is bad though. I would argue she's one of the fittest players on tour. In fact it's probably her fitness that gets her through some of these 3 set matches she gets herself in because she is able to outlast most people. She loses because her game just isn't good enough. Players are fully aware of that fact, they know if you hang around long enough in a match with Caroline you will get chances.

Losing 2 and 4 to Muguruza even though we didn't see it just suggests she was thoroughly outplayed from start to finish. We saw a match with Pervak at the beginning of the year where when the match got tight it was the world number 103 stepping up to the plate and taking it to Caroline, ultimately punching through her. I saw a match with Voegele a couple of weeks ago where I didn't even think Voegele was playing great tennis, Caro started this match in total control, by the end Voegele was dictating play and having Caro run all over the court. Of course this would be fine if these occasions were rare, you could just chalk it down to a bad day at the office then. But these aren't one off anomalies, they're almost the expected outcome in tournaments now.

Now its 2 full years. No one wants their career to self-destruct, especially after such a promising beginning.
She just cant focus like she used to.
To me, that means she'd better take hardcourt majors seriously, because if she still can play one tournament like 2012 Miami or 2013 Dubai, IW.. Be sure you have that kind of focus at hardcourt majors

No draw is easy for Caroline anymore. I'm almost expecting her to lose to Navarro at this point.

Things really slowed down today after Caroline did her all-access yesterday

WTA suffering from Dementieva withdrawal, a lack of true queens

Congrats on Number Three, Kim! We need more of you in this world
