I can't ! Thank god the match is over, I couldn't bear the thought of a 3rd set.

Oh yes. And ALL the talk will be about Caro and Piotr complaining to the Umpire.

So obvious, as the TF 'experts' try to divert attention away from the predicted vicious beat-down.

Caroline doing what she should on Valentines day - win - congrats to her and another Foster's on it's way.
It was a windy court which spoiled good play together with a Mona who played next to herself and a Caro who made a lot of errors. The wiser player won the match which despite the "bad" play was quite exciting to watch. Caroline has to up her game against Aga.

Another thing why are there no hawkeye apart from centre court. With all the petro dollars behind this tournament it can't be the money. I think there were quite a few wrong decisions which went against both Barthel and Wozniacki. The last thing Piotr should have been ordered from the court arguing with the umpire - sorry but so are the rules - only following the rules are getting a little sloppy these days. Pull yourself together WTA.

^^^ Yes, I rather watch tennis with 40 shot rallies than Mona's robotic boom-boom tennis!

I was absolutely sure Mona would win this. She's had three top-10 wins the last couple of weeks, and Caro seems very far from such form. I'm glad she won though

Well, it will give the crybabies at GM something to blabber about I guess, but it doesn't particularly interest me. Caroline wins the match, that's the only thing that matters to me.

I think Caro has a certain mental ascendancy over Mona. Mona had beaten Kerber previously so she really believed in herself in their 2R match while she has yet to take a set off Caro. Believing in yourself is key - especially when your psyche is somewhat wobbly - and while Caro always expects to win before a match (at least that's what she says), I don't think Mona fully believed she was gonna win today.

Madison Brengle: "I'd rather chew on a pinecone than play this match (against Wozniacki)."
Nicole Melichar: "Do you want me to go find you one?"

I think that Mona was probably expecting no pressure from Caro and thought she would prevail easily with her attacking game. I think that there might be this belief in the tennis community that the defensive style is less effective by default. But the trend when you look at the top 10 shows something different. The most successful players nowadays are those who can play excellent defense (although they are not completely reliant on that)
