No idea if that was really the case but if so I feel that she should have gone for it. A win against Sharapova (or at the very least a set) could have done wonders for her confidence.

I really don't know if I should buy into the "she only needs to meet a top player to step up" theory, I still fear that she would receive an absolute hammering from Vika or Kvitova with her current form.

Caro basing confidence on an exhibiton would be a bad sign. If it was someone she'd never beaten in an actul match that might be a bit different (Kim for instance), but she's beaten Sharapova twice in real matches.

Caro's performances against Serena at the US Open, Kim at the Oz Open, and her YEC matches last year say that theory is baloney.

She hit a dropshot at MP, she wasn't playing seriously Not saying she was just practising but certainly not 100% or even close (I'd say 50%). There was not tension and that changes a lot a match. I wouldnt read that much into it. Apart from the fact that her forehand is getting worse by the minute

I don't understand why you fear Kvitova on outdoor hardcourt, she could very well beat Caro but I wouldn't be surprised at all if she crushed out early. She hasn't played since the AO and she almost lost to Suarez Navarro. Vika is another story because she's on a hot streak and her game is much more realiable.

Kvitova was just an example, I could have said Radwanska or Stosur instead. I pretty much fear any of the top 20 players in decent form right now. Heck, I really like Julia but she shouldn't be able to beat Caro in straights.. but she did.

Yeah, her FH is getting worse and so are her volleys.

Actually she hit 2 first one was actually pretty good

Jimmie a little bit of faith , yes she could lose against any of the top 20 at the moment, but I wouldn't really be surprised if she beat them either. She has bounced back before. I know right now things aren't looking good but you just need to string a few wins and things can change fast. Julia is just a bad match up, Caro had a great streak going on last year and still lost to her!

Quite frankly I don't think she has to do that much to get back at the top, and start winning again. If Radwanska has been doing fine, she can do better. Main key, lower the UE!! Which means, get that forehand sorted out asap!

Re: Caroline's Live Scoring Thread 9

I hope Caro's 2nd round match is on saturday not friday. At least then there would be a chance of it being shown somewhere. Tennis Channel in the US is supposed to start broadcasting from Indian Wells on saturday.

Re: Caroline's Live Scoring Thread 9

TV coverage from IW really is laughably bad and Miami will be even worse.

Re: Caroline's Live Scoring Thread 9

I'm really stunned the WTA is allowing such poor coverage of the event. Aside from the YEC, the two US tourneys are the biggest on the tour and they have by far the worst TV coverage of all WTA tourneys premier and above.

It always has been. Any talk of these two tournaments being anywhere near to grand slam status is laughable on these grounds alone. Today and tomorrow are the only chance I'd get to watch it and so I'm not going to be seeing Caro at IW this year.

Caroline Wozniacki

Chris Evert, Steffi Graf, Kim Clijsters
