Yes, that's what I've been thinking all along. Having her as an alternate there would do damage control in terms of sponsorship, they can't possibly have her around if she doesn't qualify, that would be way too awkward.

She can still play Sofia if she goes to Istanbul as an alternate right?

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

I think she can be an alternate & play Sofia.
I like the idea of going for points now.
Then if she plays well next spring she can get in the top 8 quicker.
If she's still playing like this, it will be a slower drop down the rankings if she has a pile of end of year points fr 9 months of 2013
She starts with AO QF to defend, and there's a good chance she wont defend those points, based on last 3 majors

She should play there, she needs points to get back to top 10 or at least stay close.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

In case anyone hasn't posted it in the rankings thread,Caro is the lowest-ranked of seven women who are mathematically alive for the final four YEC spots.Even with my imperfect knowledge of the points system,it seems to be that she'd have a solid chance to go if she won Beijing

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

These are the matches I want to see. Caro vs Aga last week, and now Kerber. These are the matches she's going to have to win to move up. Because they took her place as consistent YEC players.

But you missed all the fun.

Caro led 4-2 1st set and led 4-1 (double minibreak) and 5-2 (single minibreak) in the 1st set tiebreak but proceeded to lose the 1st set tiebreak 5-7. Caro actually had break points or game point in all of the 1st 6 games of the 1st set.

Caro was down 3-0 2nd set with Hsieh having 3 game points for 4-0. Caro broke for 1-3 2nd set and then 3-3 2nd set but faced break points in all her service games in the 2nd set except the 5-5 game. Caro started off the 2nd set tiebreak up a double minibreak at 3-0, got broken twice in a row to go to 3-2, broke twice for 5-2, got broken for 5-3, held for 6-3, and broke for 7-3.

More like you're the lucky one.

Captain Matthew Gideon: I may have an idea.
Dureena Nafeel: I don't think you've recovered from your last good idea.
Captain Matthew Gideon: That would explain it.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

Caro is 0-4 against Kerber & Radwanska ( the 2 steadiest players in the top 10) in 2012. If no YEC for Caro, this is her last chance to beat one of them in 2012

Caro has now won her last five 3-sets matches, eight of her last nine.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

That's good stuff. She's been improving during the Asian swing. It'll be tough against Kerber but maybe the long three-setters helped Caro in terms of fighting the adversity.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

She has a good group of wins now, including Li.
But in the match she lost, she didnt play well & lost to a steadier player.
Now she gets another chance against a steady player, with Sharapova next.
So she can get a lot done this week that could help turn things around heading to 2013

I don't want to sound like a bad fan, but Kerber is 1.6 .. That is very generous imho. *Meeeep meeeep*
