Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

I wouldn't go as far as 2 years ago, but a year ago yes.
That said, there are some names in the list who can trouble slumping Caro. I don't think Caro has prepared this tournament very much. We'll see how she performs...hopefully the knee problems are over.

That is really the truth. It seemed she is not focussed on tennis. She is happy to be Rory´s wife. I hate him.

Between all the golf watching, the promotional appearances here, there and everywhere, I think it's safe to say, she's barely had time to do any training at all.

But maybe that's what's needed for her injuries to fully heal?

Must admit though, I haven't felt this indifferent for a tournament Caroline is playing, since ... I can't remember.

Nobody asked but for me it was Bastad, 2011. She was just coming off of a third round loss at Roland Garros and a fourth round loss at Wimbledon, I thought her energies would have been much better spent working on her game and getting ready for the summer/fall hardcourt season rather than playing an international level clay event where she ended up injuring her shoulder.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

My excitement for upcoming tournaments has taken a hit for quite a while now, it's more like a fear of "Oh dear, what's happening next?".

I would love to be amped up about her tournaments again but her not training and watching golf instead sure isn't helping. If she isn't excited about playing a tournament, why would I be?

Maybe Caroline should ask Serena how to keep a boyfriend and still have your own life. She's been dating her 'coach' and just had the best summer of her career. I think Rory has been Caro's main focus this entire year and as a result her tennis has regressed. I say this as someone who likes both players.

She could really ask any girl on tour, I don't think any of these girls have ever allowed their private lives to derail their career this much.

They all have found a way to handle it, just Caro seems to be unable to.

Well, if she hasn't trained because she was injured or too busy watching golf there's no point in playing.

Yeah, it seems like she went from NY to a golf course, then sponsor stuff.
But Caro usually plays hard. Although its hard to imagine she's in shape for a tough week of tennis

Well, I could understand it if it had only been a problem for a few months. Maybe it's her first serious relationship and maybe the guy IS the love of her life. Maybe it turned her life upside down and had emotionally a big impact on her. But it's almost one and a half years now. One would think that by now the relationship would no longer be a distraction when it comes to her career. Rory doesn't seem to have any such problems - he's doing better than ever, yet he of course spends just as much time with her as she does with him.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

I very surprised by the last 12 months. It looked like in 2010 & 2011 that Caroline was committed to being the best player she could be.

Now, its hard to know whats going on.
I think in the offseason she has to work on her fitness. She was very good at playing long matches and long weeks.
No matter what style she plays, she needs to be very fit to last during a tough week of matches
