Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

i think a nice draw (with some good names on her way) would be better as she needs some serious match-ups (and wins) to have a better preparation IMO

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

Serena moves to #6 if she makes the final, and Caroline has more points coming off now. Rome SF, Brussels win.
Her draw for the next 2 majors will be critical for her.
Maybe I shouldnt expect much on grass, but her FO draw will be huge. There's always plenty of weak patches in the draw. I thought she had a great draw last year. Bartoli made the semi from that quarter

Kevin Fischer@Kfish_WTA
After Madrid, Wozniacki projected to be #WTA No.7 or No.8 (if Serena reaches Final)

So she'll probably be #8 with big points coming off from Rome & Brussels.

Its to be expected thou. The last 9 months are not going to keep her in the top 8.

Oh dear, I guess early round matches will only be on big courts if she faces top players from now on... which is of course becoming a lot more likely!

#5 or #8 makes no difference ... As a #9, she'd be drawn against a #5-8, instead of the #8, drawn again #9-12 ...

Looking at how quickly Serena is climbing up the rankings underscores how important it is for Caroline to have some deep runs. It's not likely that she will catch Viktoria/Maria/Agnieszka but she could realistically finish the year as high as number four if she starts having deep runs again. With the right draw I could see her making the semis at the French Open.

The problem of course being that a "right" draw is very hard to come by if you`re ranked like that. It's a vicious circle, she has to beat the players ranked above her to get there again, there's no way around it.

I agree. I think it will help her more if she faces more challenges.

Caroline Wozniacki "Luckily I heal quickly. It goes much better with the ankle - will probably be 100% ready for Rome "

Obviously I hope she is fine but I'm a bit sceptical. First she hurt it in Copenhagen and then again in Madrid, she's taken some abuse lately and it seems hard to believe she will be 100% again so quickly.

Agree. But near 100% isn't too bad either. Sliding on a clay court won't be easy (with a dodgy ankle), but after Rome, there's another week off before the FO starts.

True. But she seems to be playing better lately. I'm hoping that she ends up in Aga's quarter at Rome and RG.
